Kathy G. wrote: "Does middle name work---James Fenimore Cooper"
As long as that's the name that appears on GRs, yes.

Either one will work for book 1. Now you just need to find an author with the letters S, A, F, and E in their name(s) for book 2.
Jayme(the ghost reader) wrote: "The Last Dragonslayer by Jasper Ffordefor book 2"
That works. Since it has the genre "children's" on the front page, make sure you include the information from AR Bookfinder when you post. Ex. The Last Dragonslayer - IL: MG+ - BL: 5.8 - AR Pts: 9.0
Just curious - for this task, can we read ONE book if it fits both criteria? The Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie by Jennifer Ashley
Would these work:RISK: Playlist for a Broken Heart by Cathy Hopkins
SAFE: The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald
or
How My Summer Went Up in Flames by Jennifer Salvato Doktorski
or
The Beginning of After by Jennifer Castle

for one of the two, though. ;-)

Yes, you can pair [book:Playlist for a Broken Heart with any of those authors you've listed under SAFE. They all work.
Andy wrote: "Are short story anthologies allowed? I.e. Will Kwik Krimes work for the risk part?"Yes, that works for RISK.

Thanks!
For Book 2:Blue-Eyed Soul by Fae Sutherland and Chelsea James
Is this okay? All of the letters for SAFE are in Fae Sutherland
Susan A wrote: "For Book 2:Blue-Eyed Soul by Fae Sutherland and Chelsea James

Yes, multiple authors are fine as long as all of the letters in SAFE can be found in one of the author's names.

No, sorry, Tara Jo. The Holy Trinity appears to be the name of the series. The letters must appear in the title and/or subtitle of the book. Series titles don't count.

Thanks...I think in my head the subtitle was the same as series since it was on the cover...I have a couple that I need to re-evaluate now. Thanks!
Tara Jo wrote: "Thanks...I think in my head the subtitle was the same as series since it was on the cover...I have a couple that I need to re-evaluate now. Thanks!"Most of the time, a subtitle will follow a colon on GRs. It will also show up when you link the book. For example, The Sex Lives of Cannibals: Adrift in the Equatorial Pacific - Adrift in the Equatorial Pacific is the subtitle.
Series titles are usually found in parentheses on the book's main page and are followed by a number (series name, #). A series title will not show up in the linked title. For example, The Fiery Cross is part of the Outlander series, but you have to go to the book's main page to see that it is (Outlander #5). Hope that helps a little!
Just checking my choices. The series sub-title doesn't show on the link here but it is on the GR page and on the cover of the book.Book 1: The Counterfeit Lady RISK is in the subtitle - "Victorian Bookshop Mystery #2"
and
Book 2: The Eyre Affair by Jasper Ffjorde

Thanks for the great explanation/clarification. It's most helpful for future reference.

Sorry, Melanie, your first book won't work. The series title doesn't count. See the post above yours in this thread for an explanation of the difference between subtitles and series titles.
Your second book works for SAFE.
Ah ok. I see! :-)I think I found one in my pile of books that I've been meaning to read:
The Turkish Gambit by Boris Akunin
Risk in the word Turkish.
I'd like to validate Death in the City of Light: The Serial Killer of Nazi-Occupied Paris by David King for Book #1
and
Apollo's Angels: A History of Ballet by Jennifer Homans for Book #2.

You got it. So, this book along with the one by Jasper Ffjorde fulfill all the requirements for the task.

Yes, that pairing will work.

Françoise works. So does Charles Frazier. Your choice!

That pairing works.
Susan A wrote: "Lotus in the Wild please note children genre not listed"The absence of children as a genre noted.

Read TWO books.
Book 1: Take a Risk -- Read a book with a title/subtitle that contains the letters R, I, S, and K.
AND
Book 2: Play it Safe -- Read a book written by an author whose name contains the letters S, A, F, and E.
