Lila Bickford-Seager | 2 comments So, like most of us here - this will be unintentionally vague. I am sorry, but I barely remember a lot of plot details. I remember reading this book about five, six years ago. So, roughly 2011 or even earlier than that. The book had been published previous to that. I remember it was a teen novel. It was anthology like in a way, where each of the main female characters had their own book based on them. The reason I am posting this here, is that the book in the series had this stick out to me: one of the plot details of one of the stories, I believe it was the first book (?), the main character dyed her hair purple. It was to rebel against her father. I believe he was running for Congress, Senate or something of the sort in NYC. She did it because she wanted to go against the grain of her ‘perfect’ family - so dying her hair an eggplant (I do remember that specifically) was her way of doing that. The story was set in New York City and I believe the main character’s were all under the age of 15 or around that age. I remember she was moving back to NYC and she was recconecting with her friends.
Thanks for any help anyone may give me.

Mai | 1280 comments I searched: teen fiction "series" "new york" "dying her hair" and this book came up:
The Daughters Join the Party by Joanna Philbin. It's book #4 in the Daughter Series.
Now, for the first time, readers will meet Emma Conway, daughter of a powerful New York State Senator. Emma has never fit into the sweater-set-wearing world of her political family, opting for purple hair and Chuck Taylors to keep herself out of countless photo ops, but when she accidentally lets her father's presidential plans slip on national television, Emma finds herself thrown into the spotlight.

Does this sound familiar?
