Sebastian and Hero seem to have developed deep feelings for each other. How are you feeling about their relationship?

Phrynne | 607 comments I thought they had had deep feelings for a while now! They seem to have a beautiful relationship on all levels.

It’s remarkable how their relationship developed. They couldn’t be more well suited for each other but never would have happened without that near death experience and her getting pregnant. I really like how Sebastian respects what she finds important in herself...her intellect, independence and courage. And she sees what’s dear for him and doesn’t get unnerved by his “relationship” with Kat.

It’s a beautiful transformation.

Veronica (readingonthefly) | 694 comments I'm with Phrynne! I think their love hit the deep waters several books ago. I love that Sebastian can't see a life without her anymore and they each are so supportive of each other.

I still think Kat's (thankfully) brief appearances feel shoehorned in, like the author has to put in effort to think of a way to include her, but I like that Sebastian's feelings for her have settled to just warm affection. I think that the year she was away (and the books didn't miss her at all, just saying *grin*) really allowed Sebastian to finally get over her.

That meeting with Kat was so angst free and that convinced me that she’s a distant but fond memory. There weren’t any pangs of regret on Sebastian’s part at all. Closed chapter.

Veronica (readingonthefly) | 694 comments Exactly, Jonetta! You phrased it perfectly! It was 100% angst free, which is the point I've been wanting Sebastian to reach for forever.

It felt so different this time. I’m really glad he finally got there.

Joanna | 139 comments I love it. And I love how the author shows them (Simon) as a family.

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 2240 comments I love Sebastian and Hero's relationship and they are partners in every sense of the word.

Like Veronica, I feel that Kat's character is superfluous now that Sebastian realizes she is not his soulmate.

Veronica (readingonthefly) | 694 comments I will always be sad that we lost Jamie Knox as a character while Kat gets to hang around as a totally superfluous character. Great word choice, Lauren! There was just so much more story potential to be explored with Knox as opposed to Kat, whose story relevance has played itself out.

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 242 comments I love the way their relationship is developing. They are deeply in tune with one another.

Sebastian supports Hero's work, and recognizes that it is important. Hero supports Sebastian and recognizes that his need to find justice gives him purpose. More than that though, they feel the joy and fear when one is suffering.

I love the scenes when Hero wraps her arms around Sebastian to give comfort. She always gets him to talk through his fear even if he doesn't want to.
