Natalie Scott | 1 comments Hello my name is Natalie Scott I wrote the novel Rules for Riders. Due to a terrible miscommunication between a former employee and I, the wrong cover for my novel is on the site. I tried to create a new edition but in the end it wouldn't let me combine them. Now I have two different book covers up on GR. I want the one with the black cover up, but I can't combine/separate/delete anything. Honestly the only thing that has changed is the cover and I only wanted to change that.

I emailed goodreads multiple times and never got a response. I am totally panicking! The old cover is so embarrassing to me and I would like it taken down ASAP but it said only Librarians can change it. I emailed them too to no avail!
How do I go about fixing this?
-Natalie

rivka Natalie, it looks like a Goodreads employee already added a alternate-cover edition for you and set it as the default. You would have been sent an email at the same time -- maybe it got eaten by your spam filter?

Goodreads policy is to keep all published covers on the site, as users want to shelve the cover of the copy they have. Instead, we add an alternate-cover edition. See http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/1... and http://www.goodreads.com/help/show/85....

As the author, you have the ability to change which edition of the book is the default, which will come up in searches by title and show on your author profile. (In this case, an employee has already done this step for you.) Here's how: https://www.goodreads.com/help/show/3...

And the best way to reach Goodreads Librarians for assistance is not email, but by starting a thread in the Librarians Group.

Kimberly | 1 comments Natalie, it may take a couple of days for them to get it sorted out but they will. The same thing happened with my first book, Finding Kylie. The publisher and I parted ways and I re-released it with a nicer cover (as theirs was horrid). It took a few days after my first attempt to contact Goodreads ... but they sorted it out according to my satisfaction. Hang in there.

Debbie's Spurts (D.A.) You might not have done anything wrong when trying to combine the books; recently they had the combine feature down because they were working on (and actually improving) it.

I'm not sure when you tried to combine editions -- but, maybe that's what you encountered.

Several threads here and in the librarians group were discussing combine being done, being improved, etc. if you are curious about when that was happening.
