SOLVED. YA (I think) fantasy series 2 perspectives. [s]

Read this at least 2 years ago. One of the main characters is a princess who's mother is alive but drugged or under some influence, her father is from another land. She has to spend years with her fathers family as part of her education/rite of passage and is just coming back to the castle. She's meant to marry and make an alliance. Advisor (magic user of some kind) wants to marry her I think. Has a younger spoiled sister. There's a boy (of course), other main character I think he's a thief or part of a young gang, possibly doesn't know his heritage. Towards the beginning a noble jerk starts a wildfire with magic he's not supposed to be using. The guy and girl have a special spot in a garden. I know it's all really vague. I can think of a few more things but I don't want to accidentally post spoilers. The story is told from both of their perspectives.

Thanks for your help, I just figured it out, it's Seven Realms series by Cinda Williams Chima. I'll check out the Falling Kingdoms though.
