Abi | Scribbles and Stories (scribblesandstories) | 0 comments Hello everyone! I'm Abi. I can't wait to take part in this and hopefully start getting through the great pile of books I acquired this year.

My favourite genres are YA, Contemporary, Fantasy and Sci-Fi, and Rachel Caine is my favourite author by far (though Adam Silvera is up there too).

Aside from reading and reviewing books I'm an artist and, more recently, a blogger. When I manage to get time off from work and my own projects, I love to play video games and chase around my dog - a Jack Russell named Pip.

message 102: by Tina (last edited Dec 08, 2018 10:44PM) (new)

Tina (trwriteratwork) | 6 comments Thanks for the invite, Destiny! This will be so much fun and very helpful - I have hundreds of unread books on my shelves...!!

Hi everyone, I'm Tanvi from India. I love reading YA fantasy (will be trying some adult fantasy soon!), historical fiction, adult romantic suspense or anything by Linda Howard and Nora Roberts/JD Robb.. <3 My other favorites are Sarah J Maas, Marissa Meyer, Diana Gabaldon, Tahereh Mafi etc.
My hobbies include reading, writing, bookstagramming, listening to music and watching shows. :p Also, bookshopping, bullet journaling (2 years and counting - so excited to start setting up my bujo for 2019!) and painting!

I can't read books with sad endings or basically where I know some character is going to die at the end. I need my books to end on a happy note, that's why romantic suspense is one of the best things ever - the couple has to have happy ending (also the steamy romance, chemistry and the danger!) - and same with fantasy series - you know that good will win in the end even if there are some losses along the way. Still trying to get over Kingdom of Ash.. :(

Looking forward to making new friends and reading a bunch of books! :)

nightlyreadingheather (heatherhy01) Hi All!

I'm Heather, From the USA, a Leo...

My favorite genre is YA... I adore Dystopians and Post Apocalyptic reads especially zombies. I also like Contemporaries or psychological thrillers.

I joined this group because my massive TBR from 2018 has taken over my life and I feel like I will need the whole year of 2019 to rein it in.. seriously...no joke. So here I am and will be starting off trying desperately to knock 25 books off my TBR in the month of January:)

message 108: by Tiffany (new)

Tiffany (Second Hand Pages) (secondhandpages) | 2 comments Hello everyone! My name is Tiffany!
I'm 31, almost 32 (Dec 22nd). I am an ONLINE International ESL teacher, and I use many of the YA and children's books I blog and review in my classrooms. I love it! I am a book blogger, OBVI, and book hoarder extraordinaire! I am obsessed with finding books as cheap as possible, and I've only paid full price for 6 individual books (and the book box subs I occassionally grab).

I live in Colorado, with my wife and our 3 dogs and cat. When I'm not reading, I love to write, create anything, from crocheting to painting to puzzles and recently digital painting.

I'm excited to get to know everyone!

I love YA fantasy, contemporary and thrillers!

My #1 author is V.E. Schwab but I also love Leigh Bardugo, Holly Black, Keirsten White, Mackenzi Lee, Tess Sharpe and Taylor Jenkins Reid!

I like to read, write (though I never seem to make the time), watch TV and movies and apparently, I like to exercise now too??? Who am I????

I work casual at an information desk in a shopping centre in my nearby city where I give people directions despite being directionally challenged and being an introvert who hates small talk.
You do what ya gotta do to pay the bills right?

I have a very anxious ginger cat named Charlie (from Perks of being a Wallflower) who has been by my side through the worst times in my life. He is my child and I will not tolerate any hate towards him.

I'm also queer, probably far too into astrology (Capricorn sun, Libra moon and Aries rising), I love talking absolute nonsense with my mum and watching far too much Youtube.

message 119: by Ghostly (new)

Ghostly Writer (ghostlywriter) | 6 comments Hi everyone! My name is Kiralee (but most people call me Kira), and I live in Melbourne, Australia. This year was my final year of high school (I completed VCE), and a few days ago I received my results. I am looking forward to starting a Bachelor of Arts next year, with a major in Psychology, as well as Indonesian!

As it says in my biography on my profile, my favourite genre is Young Adult Fiction. In particular, novels that focus around the complexities of mental illness. Since I was a child, my favourite author has always been Jacqueline Wilson. However, from reading her latest novels, I feel as though her traditional writing style is slowly diminishing...

Since school has finished, I have been able to get back into reading again. The last time I had the proper chance to read a book was in August. I have been deprived for that long! Hence, at the moment I am living and breathing books! Reading is now my main hobby currently, but I also enjoy other things, such as walking, cooking, writing, and many other things that I can't think of right now!

I am currently unemployed, and am hoping to get part-time work to go alongside my degree at university! In terms of pets, my beautiful Labrador Retriever passed away in late July, and I miss him dearly. I was 4 years old when we got him. It doesn't feel like Christmas without him being here...

I look forward to talking to some of you, and getting to know you! Let's get started and devour our to-be reads!

message 120: by Angela (new)

Angela C | 2 comments Hi everyone! I'm Angela, and I'm so happy to be a part of this group. I primarily read Young Adult fiction and am especially fond of fantasy and retellings (especially of fairy tales). My favorite authors include Maggie Stiefvater, Megan Whalen Turner, Michael Grant, L.A. Meyer, Sarah Rees Brennan, and Pierce Brown.

I have a Bachelor's degree in English with a concentration in Professional Writing, and I work as a senior analyst in the electricity industry. I know those two things seem totally unrelated, but my job involves a lot of writing/editing, and I absolutely love what I do. :-)

In addition to reading and blogging, I enjoy dancing, movies, theater, and anything to do with history. I live in Pennsylvania with my husband, Mike, and our two gorgeous dogs, Maya and Bella.

message 121: by Briony (new)

Briony (bookishbriony) Hi guys my name is Briony :)
I am from Sydney, Australia.

I am 20 years old and am so happy to be apart of this lovely group. It was not too long ago that I embraced my love for books and now I am never looking back!

I am also a pop vinyl collector and find that my love for pops and books run hand in hand so I love photographing them together for my bookstagram (@booksandcolour)

I am studying Nursing and plan on becoming a midwife in the future. I am halfway through my degree and cannot wait to see what the future holds for my career.

I love watching netflix and absolutely adore animals (especially my cats and dogs). If I could be an animal, I definitely think i'd chose the cat life :P

Even though I may not find a whole lot of time to read I find it my escape and I love it SOOO much...
Not only do I love reading but I love knowing that there are so many new adventures to go on in each book I pick up!

Thanks for reading and I hope to make friends with some of you! :)

Peter (peterdonnelly) | 8 comments Hi, my name is Peter, I live in Ireland and work in the Healthcare Technology Industry.
Find Me: Blog - Twitter - Facebook
Favourite Genres: Literary Fiction, Historical Fiction, Thrillers, Fantasy
Favourite Authors this Year: John Boyne, Elaine Powell, Cara Hunter, Laini Taylor + Loads of Indie Authors

I have loved reading all my life but only started participating in book reviews and blogging from Jan this year. It has given me a new perspective on books and authors, and enabled me to deal directly with them at all stages of producing and promoting their books. What a wonderful creative industry this is :):)

Many thanks for the invite to join this group and I love the opportunity to reduce the TBR list that I really should have read in 2018. I have a number of book commitments each month but I'm hoping this group will enable me to read those I want to read but keep putting on the long finger.

Look forward to participating.

My hobbies include performing in drag, embroidery, fantasizing about working on my thesis, drawing, listening to scary podcasts, and playing video games.

I'm looking forward to interacting with everyone here and hope we all make some decent progress on our tbr piles!

Ayla (damnmysterious) Hi yall! Thanks so much for inviting me! <3

I'm Ayla, I'm 22 years old and from The Netherlands. I'm currently not very active on my blog or Bookstagram since I'm really busy with college and I've decided to change some things about my blog in the new year. It's kinda funny how I've decided to join this group, since my TBR is SUPER tiny. Like... if I don't add any new releases, I could finish it before summer, hahah!

Anyway, my favourite genre is definitely Young Adult Fantasy. I barely read anything else (although I do try)! My favourite author is definitely Victoria Schwab, and I really love Sara Raasch and Jodi Meadows.

My hobbies obviously include reading, and I love to watch movies and tv shows. I'm absolutely obsessed with music and the only reason I got the Apple AirPods is because I knew I couldn't lose them as they're ALWAYS in my ears, hehe! This might sound kinda funny, but I'm kind of looking for a new hobby! Maybe like a sport or other activity that's not just sitting down... ;-)

As I said, I'm quite busy with college. I study Communications and I LOVE it. I'm genuinely happy studying, although it is busy. I also work in a drugstore as a sales assistant since December 2017. I've been there for little over a year now and getting that job is one of the best things that's happened to me. My life is super busy because of all this and I don't have much reading time left, but it's not that bad as I really enjoy both things.

I have one dog! It's a black Shih Tzu called Gismo and I love it with all my heart. We used to have two, but the other one passed away in November at almost 13 years old...

Sorry if my introduction got a little long, hehe! I'm really looking forward to chatting with you all more. I haven't really been active in Goodreads groups before, but I'll try my best! <3

Lotte (thereadinghobbit) So I'm Lotte and I have a big pile of books that just won't get any smaller, so this group invite came at the right time ^^ Thanks Kathy! I love fantasy and magical realism, but contemporary is really cool too, mostly YA but I read adult fiction as well. Favorite authors include, J.R.R. Tolkien, Maggie Stiefvater, Sarah Addison Allen, Sarah Dessen, Patrick Rothfuss, Nina LaCour, Naomi Novik and probably more :P Besides reading I love to write (fiction and on my book blog), draw and play/listen to music. Another hobby (which actually started out at a need because I can't eat most breads) is baking bread, and baking in general! And I love gardening, but we only have a balcony (although it's pretty big) but I like to grow vegetables in containers. I don't technically go to school, but I do a long distance study at home (English lit and Creative Writing) because my health is shit :P And I have three cats! Once upon a time I had seven (long story, but most of them were kittens). It's quite a lot of cats, but they're small so it's all right. They're called Emma (who is the Mom of the others), Roishieen and Kleintje (which is Dutch and translates to "little one", because she is the smallest)

Annnnnd then here are all the places I blab about books :P

I love a psychological crime thriller, or a murder mystery. I'll read most things, apart from romance novels or hardcore fantasy novels. My favourite author is probably Stephen King: I love most of his books and find I can't put them down.

I love blogging, cooking, playing the piano, and obviously reading. I currently work in digital marketing for an agency, and I really enjoy it. I have a cat, called Lily, who we rescued a couple of years ago.

My TBR is CONSTANTLY growing, and it's out of control.

kylie Helloo everyone! I'm so excited to be in this group!

I go by Flynn. I'm 21 years old living in the south, sadly. Dreaming to one day move up north, hopefully after I finish college. I am going to school to get my Elementary Education degree. I want to be a 2nd grade teacher! I am currently a fulltime Kindergarten aide. Loving every minute of it.

I enjoy reading YA fiction, and Science Fiction and horror.
Some of my favorite authors are Darren Shan, Neal Shusterman, J.K. Rowling and Richelle Mead.
When I'm not reading, I'm painting or walking my pup or binge watching shows on Netflix!
I have a 8 month old Morkie named Olive. She is like my child, since I don't have any of my own. SO SPOILED.

Anyway, super excited to be a part of this group. My TBR pile is piling high! Higher every month it seems...

Kara (keen23) | 1 comments Hey All!
Kara - 40 - Phoenix metro area
Mother of three girls (ages 11-15), wife of one husband (together since we were 17), adopter of one cat. I work full time in an office. I read a lot. I watch too much Netflix.

What genres do you prefer reading?- I read anything, but I love chick-lit, dystopian fiction, and sci-fi

Do you have a favorite author?- Not really. But there are authors who I'll read anything they write- Elisa James, Julia Quinn, Barbara O'Neal, Terry Pratchett (RIP)

What are your hobbies?- Don't have time for much beyond reading

Do you go to school? Work?- Office manager for a mid-sized company

Do you have any pets? A cat. The current one is a female about 5 years old, who we think is mostly Russian Blue. She looks like the cat on the Sheba cat food cans and is devoted to our youngest daughter.

My TBR has 194 books in it, some going back 3 or more years...

abi (booksgamesvinyl) Hey!

I just stumbled upon this whilst looking for a reading challenge group and this one seems fantastic and really friendly.

My name is Abi and I'm from the UK. I'm an occasional reviewer though I'm so terribly behind at the minute because my general TBR list has just gotten that big. I mainly read YA though I like adult fantasy and contemporary as well.

Rainbowcake | 7 comments Hi everyone!

I'm Mélanie, from France.
Since my TBR books started to take too much place in my new little bookcase, I decided that in 2019 I had to stop buying more books and finish the ones I already had. Of course, February has just started and I've already bought at least 10 new ones....(Just couldn't help myself! hahaha)
That's why this group is perfect for me *o*

What genres do you prefer reading?
I read a bit of everything, but mainly Fantasy

Just to name a few: David & Leigh Eddings, Philip Pulman, Diana Wynn Jones, Robin Hobb, Toni Morrison, Jane Austin...

Marco (skipbo_er) Hi everyone,

Well, it's been ages, but I finally have some time to write an introduction. My name is Marco and I'm a 25-year-old from the Netherlands who at the moment has only just gotten out of a reading slump.

- What genres do you prefer reading?

I love reading fantasy, sci-fi, LGBTQIA+, and horror the most. I have been dabbling in the other genres more and more though.

- Do you have a favourite author?

I absolutely love Brandon Sanderson, Maggie Stiefvater, and Maria v. Snyder currently.

- What are your hobbies?

I love reading, gaming (ps4), playing board games, movies, and just having lazy days with some friends every now and again.

- Do you go to school? Work?

I'm currently taking a break from studying to become an English Teacher due to a burn-out. I do still work 2 days a week as a factory worker. Bills and such don't stop, haha.

- Do you have any pets?

I have no pets, nor am I planning on owning any in the foreseeable future. I'm not really a pet-having kind of guy.

Marc *Dark Reader with a Thousand Young! Iä!* (marcthedarc) Yeah, why not do the intro since I signed up to do some March Madness TBR pruning. Much more enjoyable than the sportsball variety to me. I have already checked out several horror books on my list from the library, ready for 3/1/19.

What genres do you prefer reading? -Fantasy (a mix of classic, pulp/escapist, and contemporary), horror, other stuff if I must

Do you have a favorite author? -Newest favorite is Grady Hendrix. He writes very satisfying, cinematic endings and solid female characters, IMO. Longer-term favorite: Terry Pratchett.

Other questions - blah blah blah, need to spend more time reading than lurking here so I will get back to it.

Sharon | 26 comments Hello fellow bookworms!!! My name is Sharon. Favorite main genre is YA but I will read other genres if the mood strikes. Favorite author is Victor Villaseñor. Favorite hobby is of course reading. But I do love to journal so that started my addiction to pens 🖊. I have 3 different pen cases that I take to work (I work at a bank) with me. Everyone at work knows not to take pens off my desk....ever! Lol 😂. No pets as of yet. Still trying to see what kind of job my pet could get that would enable him/her to pay the pet rent my apartment complex charges. 🤣 I’m an introvert and I have anxiety so it’s difficult for me to make friends. The goal I set for myself this year was to tackle my massive TBR pile. Due to space restrictions I have 1 bookcase that it stuffed to the max (yet I still buy more books 📚 🤷🏽‍♀️). I listen to audiobooks I borrow from the library at work so I’m able to do more reading as well. But I have been getting through a lot of my own so super proud of myself. I honestly have no ideas how many books I own. Due to moving I have about 14 containers of books in storage (sad I know). Just in my apartment I probably have about 200 unread books. 😱🤫. So joining this group was perfect to help me reach my goal. At the very least drop it down some because we all know we’ll always add to the TBR. But hey at least maybe now it won’t be so daunting. Sorry for the long winded introduction/rant. 🙃
