This book is about a young boy named Auggie. He has a disfigured face and has been insecure about it ever since he has looked in the mirror, because of this he wears an astronaut helmet. Being homeschooled his whole life, the family decides that it is time to step into the real world and start public school. Through his ups and downs, friendships made and friendships that have ended, Auggie eventually finds his real friends. In the end, Auggie comes to the conclusion that he can't change his face and that he should embrace it how it is. I think this book had a very valuable meaning on what we should be grateful for and that your true friends shouldn't care about how you look, but who you are on the inside.
