I'm going to read Sweet Vengeancefor this prompt, looks like an exiting read about prison, guilt and revenge.

The Sweet HereafterI read this book years ago and enjoyed it, this will be a good excuse to go back and read it again
Im going to read Sweet Tooth: The Bittersweet History of Candy by Kate Hopkins.... Something totally different!
I might finally read Confections of a Closet Master Baker: One Woman's Sweet Journey from Unhappy Hollywood Executive to Contented Country Baker :)
I ran across Salty at my library and thought the cover had the look of a nice fun fluffy kind of book (see below). It's about an ex-rock star who is a recovering sex addict on vacation in Thailand when his wife gets kidnapped and ransomed. He has to go save her due to a general lack of help from the government and incompetence from law enforcement. The plot description didn't really sound like my cup of tea (nor super fluffy) but I thought I'd give it a go. I'm about a third of the way through and just haven't found myself connecting with the plot so I'm probably going to DNF rather than force my way through. I actually think this book would be a light funny read for my dad (who enjoys war/military stories). Decent writing and good for someone just not for me. Thought I'd mention it here since I hadn't seen it pop up yet.
For this prompt, I read Sweetbitter. I enjoyed the writing, and how it spoke to my senses, but I did not love this one.
I think I am going to go with Salt: A World History by Mark Kurlansky. I have been wanting to read it for a long time.
I kinda cheated and used Salt & Stone for this. I couldn't fit any books that fit that I actually wanted to read. I do not recommend this series... fyi

I dont know what you decided to do, but if you do decide to go with Salt...
Salt to the Sea is my favorite read of the last year. :)

Ugh, I am still wrestling with this one! I think I'm just too much of a strict literalist and I can't feel ok about using "salt" instead of "salty." (I mean, if I made dinner too salty, I wouldn't say, "this soup is too salt," I'd say, "this soup is too salty." They are different words.) So, I'm definitely going to read ALL of those "salt" books, but I'll use a different book for this category. Maybe Bitter Greens or The Bitter Side of Sweet

I'm a literalist too. I did find a few books that used the word Salty, though. One is about the sex lives of ocean creatures. another has multiple of the terms listed, and is a JF book about a mixed race girl and family cultures and cooking. it looks sweet.Sex in the Sea: Our Intimate Connection with Sex-Changing Fish, Romantic Lobsters, Kinky Squid, and Other Salty Erotica of the Deep
Hot, Sour, Salty, Sweet
There is a book on sale today (Feb 7) on Kindle/amazon for $1.99 called Magic Bitter Magic Sweet that would fit this prompt!

Just finished and also very much enjoyed! It looks like Frear has a second book coming out, definitely seems like a series.
Lindsay wrote: "Going to read Murakami's Sputnik Sweetheart for this one"Ooh forgot about that one. Thanks!
I'm probably going with Sweetpea, the only qualifying book on my TBR. It's apparently a thriller from the POV of a serial killer (who hates it when guys call her "Sweetpea").Nadine wrote: "Same! Usually if I see an author has rated his/her own book here, I ditch it from my TBR list, because ... who does that? Obviously an author will give his/her work high marks, so why bother?"
Eh, I don't personally mind. I feel like writing + editing + getting a book published is such a big accomplishment, the author's earned the right to a moment of pride. Plus, one rating isn't really going to do much to the book's overall score.
For fans of Tammara Webber and New Adult Romance, I just discovered Sweet on my kindle. It's a spinoff from her novel, Easy. But it can be read as a stand-alone, as well.
I decided to bend the prompt a little and use "salt" instead of "salty", so I'm considering this completed with The Blue Salt Road.
If you're looking for a non-fiction book, there's America's Bitter Pill: Money, Politics, Back-Room Deals, and the Fight to Fix Our Broken Healthcare System
Here is another non-fiction book that has 2 of the 3 words in it All That Is Bitter And Sweet: A Memoir by Ashley Judd
I’ve just started reading (well, listening to) Bitter by Francesca Jakobi. It has good ratings on both Audible and GR (4.26)
I read The Sweet Life in Paris: Delicious Adventures in the World's Most Glorious - and Perplexing - City. I didn’t love it. It was OK.
I have just read The Salt Path by Raynor Winn, about a couple walking the whole South West Coast path in England (630 miles) after losing everything and becoming homeless. Inspiring!

Melissa wrote: "Does the word Sweetie count because I have there’s something about sweetie"Some people are counting any book that contains any of the words anywhere in the title, and others enjoy using a stricter interpretation, so it's really which ever would be more fun for you. (There are even several people who have mentioned using a book with 'salt' in the title instead of salty, so I think this prompt is especially popular for loose interpretation.)
I tried listening to Bitter is the New Black and it's completely on a different world from my preferences. I might try either Sputnik Sweetheart or The Salt Roads
Mada wrote: "I tried listening to Bitter is the New Black and it's completely on a different world from my preferences. I might try either Sputnik Sweetheart or The Salt Roads"I read Sputnik Sweetheart for this and enjoyed it. It is a quick read too.
I'd been struggling to choose something for this prompt, but on arriving in England for my holidays found the bookshop shelves stacked with copies of the new book by David Nicholls (the author of One Day, Starter for Ten, Us, The Understudy)... the title is Sweet Sorrow.

I loved One Day and wasn't aware of this one! Thanks for the info! I have yet to read Us, though I own a copy. Have you read either of those?

I started reading Us but gave up about a third of the way through: it was just the wrong book at the wrong time.
I've almost finished [book:Sweet Sorrow and I'm glad I picked it up. There isn't a hugely dramatic plot (in the 300 pages I've read so far, not much has happened that isn't covered in the blurb on the back) but I love the style of writing and the way David Nicholls sets the scene. It's set in a small town in England in 1997, and as a British person almost the same age as the main character it's bringing back a lot of memories... in fact, if I wasn't using it for this category it could easily be "a book that makes you feel nostalgic", for me.
That's the first time I've tried replying to a message on Goodreads, so I don't know why it came out like that... sorry!

Similar things happen when I reply on occasion as well. Even if I delete and repost, it still happens, so I have just given up and let it stand as is... :) Glad to know it doesn't just happen to me! :)

It happens when the automatic break in the previous post comes in the middle of an italic section, so the italics tag is never closed. If you don't want to deal it much, you can just backspace the last couple words and the anything with/in these symbols: < > That should remove the start of the italics (or any odd formatting) and clear it up.
