Ditto on the last millennium call. Thinking Dracula which I was going to reread this year but found an alternative new book for the category. Haven't read that since 1980 something so there may actually be bits I don't remember and I have certainly changed my outlook on life since then so it will at least be a new angle.

Amanda (tattooed_bookworm) | 23 comments This'll be my excuse to re-read something so I can finally get rid of it!

Currently working on the Twilight series so I can get rid of them, so I'm sure it'll be one of them... but I do (not so secretly anymore) like them as quick reads! :)

The Chapter Conundrum (Stacey) | 404 comments Jenny wrote: "This was a funny one!

My favorite by her is Can You Keep a Secret?"

YES! && The Undomestic Goddess as well! ^_^

message 55: by Trina (new)

Trina Gloury (mactrin) | 76 comments Lots of Harry Potter fans! I have shamefully still not read all of these books yet (I know, I know, please put your rocks away haha). Hopefully 2019 will be the year that I finally sit down with them all. However for this prompt I'm going with Colleen Hoover's It Ends with Us. This novel made me think and feel so profoundly, and got me back into reading after many years away from it. Since reading this book back in June 2017, I have managed to read around 100 odd books, which is a massive feat considering during the years prior to this I had only read maybe a maximum of five books. So it will always hold a special place in my heart for its ability to give me my reading mojo back.

message 56: by Ian (new)

Ian (iansreads) If it is made the puzzle/game monthly discussion, I will read The Westing Game. If it is not, I will read The Perks of Being a Wallflower.

message 57: by redatt (new)

redatt (mini_sagas) | 52 comments I'm not that big on rereading books, so this prompt is tougher than it first looks! (And I've already chosen Good Omens for one of the other prompts.)

Probably I'll reread The Eyre Affair by Jasper Fforde, but maybe I'll pick one of the Pterry's Discworld novels.

message 58: by Megan (new)

Megan | 361 comments *sigh*
I don't like re-reading books when there are so many I haven't read!
I guess I'll do Gone with the Wind

message 59: by Ronja (new)

Ronja (roszanen) | 10 comments I will re-read Maybe Esther: A Family Story. Love this book!

message 60: by Jen (new)

Jen (jentrewren) Could always do one from when you were a little kid that way it will be done quickly and you won't waste much reading time.....

Alacia M (Our Charming Bookshelf) (alacia) | 5 comments I read The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society in 2016 and fell in love immediately. So much in fact that I've purchased every copy that comes in to a little book shop here in town and gift them to everyone I know! It was made in to a Netflix movie this year and it's darling. Definitely reading it again and think you guys would love it too!

message 62: by Johanna (new)

Johanna Ellwood (jpellwood) | 236 comments I was just unpacking a box from moving (a couple of years ago) and unearthed Coming Home by Rosamunde Pilcher. I've been wanting to read it again, so this will be perfect for next year.

message 63: by Serendipity (new)

Serendipity | 146 comments Alicia, The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society would have been my pick too but I reread it last year for a similar prompt. Since I'm not a big re-reader two yeras feels too soon for another reread of it - even though it is one of my favourites.

message 64: by Rachelnyc (new)

Rachelnyc | 186 comments It was already one of my options but with the sequel coming out next year, I think I will have to go with The Handmaid's Tale for my re-read.

Traci (tracibartz) | 70 comments Rachelnyc wrote: "It was already one of my options but with the sequel coming out next year, I think I will have to go with The Handmaid's Tale for my re-read."

I was thinking of Bel Canto, The Handmaid's Tale, or a book I listened to on audio and didn't like as much as I thought I would/others did to see if listening was just the wrong medium for me.

However, if there's a sequel coming, I better go with The Handmaid's Tale!

message 66: by Sarah (new)

Sarah I am thinking the Start of Me and You by Emery Lord its so cute!

Aaaahhahhhh!!!!! I'm both excited and scared to read this sequel!! I don't want it to ruin the first book for me, but yes, I feel like I need to do a re-read of Handmaids tale also.

I feel the same way! I just hope Atwood is doing this for the right reasons (that she has something important to add to the story as opposed to it just being a cash grab due to the success of the show). I really like her and have faith for the most part, especially because our current world gives her a lot of fodder for Gilead, but am still nervous...

message 69: by Sylvia (new)

Sylvia Smith | 57 comments Just my opinion but I don’t really care to re read a book. This will be my least fave prompt. I will save it for last and if I can make myself do it Bag of Bones by Stephen King.

That was my exact same thought when I saw she had written a sequel because of the timing. I'm only about 4 episodes into season one of the show, but I loved the book, and hope its not something I should just leave at that.

I thought season 1 of the show was fantastic. I'm just starting season two now and so far I like it and it feels like it is going to address some of the things touched on but not delved into in the book (view spoiler). From what I read, the new book will be set 15 years after the original book ended so I am optimistic that it will be its own thing. Fingers crossed!

I heard it's meant to be a completely different set of characters too, which makes me more hopeful for it. Maybe working on the show gave her more ideas!

message 73: by Liz (new)

Liz Fothergill | 48 comments I’m planning to reread Accordion Crimes by Annie Proulx. I recently found it in a used book store. This is one of those books I lent or gave away and regretted not keeping. I’ve been looking for another copy for quite awhile.

message 74: by Abby (new)

Abby (porporastorm594) | 4 comments I'm not sure, it'll be ok if I'll read again a book but in a different language?

I don't see why not.

message 76: by Sara (new)

Sara Goldsmith | 13 comments I am going to re-read The Kiss of Deception by Mary E. Pearson. I read this in 2018 but there is a new book coming out this year and I am already planning on re-reading the series to be ready for this new book.

I am definitely cautiously optimistic. It makes sense that the show would ring up more ideas and the world we live in gives plenty of "inspiration" as well.

message 78: by Erin (new)

Erin (maclanoodle) | 30 comments My all-time favorite: Summers at Castle Auburn. I've had my copy for 18 years, the cover has been packing-taped back on, it's soft and worn down, well loved as heck.

Raquel (Silver Valkyrie Reads) | 896 comments Mac wrote: "My all-time favorite: Summers at Castle Auburn. I've had my copy for 18 years, the cover has been packing-taped back on, it's soft and worn down, well loved as heck."

Oh, I loved that one too! Haven't read it a long time, maybe I'll end up going with that too (though I have plenty of other options I haven't read in too long...).

message 80: by Marie (new)

Marie Tea | 15 comments Because fantasy has been so calming to me in these crazy times, I think re-reading The Hobbit would be helpful. A bit more obscure perhaps, I never forgot the joy of reading Gormenghast Trilogy.

message 81: by Michelle (last edited Dec 27, 2018 10:31AM) (new)

Michelle (maezyreads) | 32 comments I'm a ferocious reader and I have never re-read a book in my life. UGH. I do like the idea of listening to one I've read, so that is probably the route I'll go.
Now to figure out which beloved book to listen to.....

Edited to add: I have obviously reread children's books to my boys. ;)

I listened to The Rosie Project and really enjoyed it.

message 83: by Marsha (new)

Marsha Mahla | 3 comments I will re-read books on occasion. Whenever I re-read The Lord of the Rings trilogy, there is always something I about the story I've forgotten. My favorite books, I've read 2 or 3 times at least. For this prompt, I'm thinking of rereading "Watership Down" as I've been thinking about it recently and haven't read it in five or so years.

Lacey (bookishlace) (laceyannea) | 8 comments I'll either be combining this with Prompt 2 (Nostalgia) in order to get two of the Lemony Snicket books into the challenge, or will be reading The Glass Castle by Jeanette Walls.

message 85: by Teriyaki (new)

Teriyaki Tofu (teriyakitofu) | 17 comments I'm reading The Hobbit

message 86: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten Grier | 33 comments I've been meaning to re-read East of Eden by John Steinbeck. This will give me a push now!

message 87: by Darci (new)

Darci Day | 164 comments Animal Farm was my favorite book in high school, but I haven't read it since. Perfect opportunity!

message 88: by Julie (new)

Julie | 43 comments I have taken to reading my kids my favourite novels. We have read the first Harry Potter book together, so I plan to read the sequels. My daughter also got a Roald Dahl collection for Christmas, so Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is probably going to happen.

message 89: by Klau (new)

Klau (lenarafley) | 10 comments I am going to read A million little pieces by James Frey fot this one :D I always read it during the year anyway, so this prompt is perfect for me

message 90: by Ashlie (new)

Ashlie Odom (araereads) | 14 comments I think I'll re-read Empire of Storms by Sarah J. Maas since I haven't read the newest, Kingdom of Ash despite having pre-ordered it. Kingdom of Ash can be my "I meant to read in 2018" choice.

message 91: by Allison (new)

Allison | 9 comments I’m thinking Name of the Wind and/or Wise Mans Fear. Just in case that third book finally arrives...ever. I’ll be ready.

message 92: by Brandon (new)

Brandon Harbeke | 715 comments For all of the people who are dreading this prompt, let me ask you something. Have you ever seen a movie twice or listened to the same song twice? If so, did you still enjoy it the next time? There is enough art in every medium that you could choose to only go for the new stuff. However, you may find joy in experiencing the same thing again.

Besides audio books or annotated books, another way to spice up this prompt for the skeptical is to reread a book with a big plot twist or mystery. Read it with the knowledge of what happened and see the author's craft in putting in clues, foreshadowing, or red herrings.

The biggest joy in rereading for me is experiencing the story and setting again and spending time with characters I like. My first reread of the year will be the trilogy that begins with Cohesion.

message 93: by Lorna (new)

Lorna | 30 comments I am really not a fan of this prompt since I don't really enjoy re-reads (with the exception of Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings). That being said, my book club is reading The Orenda which happens to be one of my all time favourites and so a re-read is in order.

Courtney Blocher | 64 comments I'm going to go with New York to Dallas by J.D. Robb. I always enjoy reading her books.

message 98: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer | 6 comments I have so many books that I want to reread. I will reread Miracle Road.

message 99: by Eva (new)

Eva (bookworm_eve) I'm currently reading a re-read: Passenger by Alexandra Bracken. I've been wanting to read this a second time for a while, because I have Wayfarer waiting on my shelf!

message 100: by Emi (new)

Emi Ham | 10 comments I hate re-reading books, I can't do it, I already know what happens....gah!
