I like your description about this book. It seems that the main character -- Arthur Dent experienced an adventure in his life, not on earth, but in the universe. I intend to grab this book after reading your review !
I always thought hitchhiker was only one book and not part of a series, but hearing it is i might have to read this. I could relate to Arthur with Thursday being terrible since for school a lot of Thursdays are bad.

Why do people always complain about Mondays? Sure, It’s the end of the weekend, but Mondays never get out of hand in quite the same ways as Thursdays do. You know the days I’m talking about; a bunch of small things go wrong, it all builds up, and suddenly you feel like the world is ending. Need an example? Look no further than Arthur Dent and the worst Thursday of his life. He was hungover, his house was being torn down, and on top of that his pants were all muddy! Oh yeah, and then the world ended. Next thing poor Arthur knows; he’s on some alien starship, everything he’s ever known and loved is dead, and the day still wasn’t over! I’d like to see that happen on a Monday!
Douglas Adams is a master of making the illogical, logical. He shows you the universe in a way nobody else can, asking questions you didn’t know needed asking and answering them in ways that just raise more questions. By turning your preconceived notions of the universe on their head, I guarantee you’ll look at things a little differently after reading this book! As the first book of this five-part trilogy, (Yes, this ‘trilogy’ has five books) Douglas Adams started things off with a bang! If you like weird Sci-Fi, you need not look further than The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy!
