SOLVED. Book with a boy of the cover, one word title. [s]

So, what I wrote on the top is pretty much what I know about the book. A friend I knew loved it, so I am trying to find it again. If only I could contact said friend for information. Anyways, it is a fantasy, I believe a YA, and it might be more recent, like 2012 onwards. It is part of a series. Sorry for the lack of information, but that is truly all I remember.
