Xandra, I don't personally have an ESA but I know about them. Usually, you have to have a specific goal for the animal (e.g. the animal would help you stay calm, help you sleep, etc.) Ask your doctor about one.

Hey, Ronald! That's actually the point of this group! To chat about personal things! So it's fine if you chat here! :)

I know it is I just didn't want to ask something that might be to personal to someone. I was just trying to help with the things I have learned in the past. so I asked somethings that were personal to the that persons situation. nothing bad. I was just be careful.

Hi, ummm
sorry, being here is messing up my balance.

I'm Mel, born and raised in italy. Due to my past I have severe PTSD and anxiety...I come for support.

Rhiannon Ford | 1 comments Hi, My name is Rhiannon, you can call me Rhi or Roo or...well... Rhiannon :')
I'm not sure how these kinda things work so...forgive me if I am doing this wrong.
I fight (not suffer) anxiety and depression and reading and writing really helps.
I have recently written a book, a poetry collection from my experiences of said battles, so if anyone would like to check that out, it is called "It's Okay to Feel this Way" :)

message 110: by Kayleigh (new)

Kayleigh (kayleighsbookreviews) Hey, I'm Kayleigh. I have not been able to gather the courage to go to the doctors about my problems but i suspect i suffer with depression and anxiety. I like writing but due to my conditions i struggle to complete a story, i also get bored and end up creating another world or another story in the same world. I also write some fanfiction, not that i would ever show that to anyone. Anyway, i just wanted to say hi!

message 111: by Tabitha (new)

Tabitha Peck Hello! My name is Tabitha. I struggle with PTSD, RAD, and Anxiety. Whenever I am anxious, I try to calm down by reading a book or doing a word Search. Do you guys have any good book recommendations for YA?

SpiderQueen (ReadingwithAshlee) Hey everyone :)
My name is Ashlee. I'm 27, run a book blog ( BooksTeaandDogs.tumblr.com ) and a Bookstagram @Books_Tea_and_Dogs. I was diagnosed with Generalized Anxiety Disorder when I was 16 and it has gotten worse throughout the last 11 years. Along with GAD, I also deal with an eating disorder (anorexia) and in the past had a short diagnosis of depression. Once in a while my anxiety causes the depression to resurface and it can last for a few days or a few months. It just depends on what I'm going through at that point in time.

Other things about me.
I have 3 dogs
I'm an STNA
Slytherin pride!!
I've never watched Game of Thrones
Throne of Glass is my favorite series
Sarah J. Maas is my favorite author

〰️Beth〰️ (x1f4a0bethx1f4a0) | 19 comments Hello everyone!

Thought I put my hello greetings up over a week ago but I am recovering from back surgery so sometimes the meds give me a brain cloud.

I am Beth and have been dealing with PTSD and GAD for a very long time. I go thru ups and downs. I am usually a very private person and books are my escape/ release stress method.

Feel free to private message if you don’t like talking in a public forum all the time. Great with friend invites but I am older than most if not all of you and some of my reading material is on the dark side. Please don’t let that stop from befriending me, just let me know, I don’t like to trigger anyone. Strange things trigger my PTSD so I understand.

Looking forward to getting to know you all.🌷

message 143: by Arlene (new)

Arlene | 1 comments Can i be part of this group? I am the sole caretaker for my adult son with Bipolar I disorder, -- just release from his latest hospitalization. There is so little support for those with the lived experience of mental illness and even less for their families. I can offer support to all and yearn for some of the same tossed back at me. Best to everyone.

message 144: by Sadie (new)

Sadie (deeagatha) Hey guys! I'm Sadie Agatha, a 17-year-old. I've struggled with depression and anxiety for most of my life, and only recently managed to start treating it. Being a lesbian girl in a conservative community, and a member of a Christian church, I have some minor issues with my sexuality. I've also experienced mental-emotional abuse from my blood family, and now live with a family friend. I try my best to be cheerful and uplifting, especially to important people in my life, but I needed a place where I could let down that wall for a little while, if not for a very long time.

One of my biggest stressors is considering the future, especially that of the world. My self-confidence is, for the most part, really good, especially compared to what it used to be like. I'm working on myself constantly, but sometimes I need a place to vent or not put quite so much effort into being someone the world expects from me.

Art is one of my favorite escapes, too. I'm glad you have something so beautiful in your life. I draw, primarily.

message 147: by Audrey (new)

Audrey (niceyackerman) | 9 comments I’m Audrey. I became severely depressed when I was 10 because of school, caused by students as well as teachers. I was diagnosed at 26 when my ob/gyn was concerned about possible postpartum depression. (Though my depression was better during pregnancy.) I’m now on two medications for it (Celexa and Wellbutrin). It’s still a struggle sometimes.

I’ve always had pretty strong social anxiety, but I have conquered performance anxiety.

My son also started Prozac at the end of high school after an anonymous friend told the school counselor he was having suicidal thoughts.

Sorry to hear that! I didn't know you had depression, Audrey! I'm glad to hear that it's doing a little better(?) I totally get social anxiety. I can't look people in the eyes and I usually stay in my room when my family has people over. Sometimes, I stare at people from my bedroom to creep them out. Wow, that sounded way worse typing it. I read to many thrillers. 😂
