Nishy | 21 comments I can't remember when I read the book.but it's been years for sure.
Can't remember much about the story. All I remember was the heroine acts as a highwayman so they could survive, cause they don't have any income and his father was dead. The hero was attacked or his friend was attacked, I can't remeber, so he tried to find this highwayman.
/spoiler/
She was shot once.

Do you think you read it 10 years ago? 20 years? 40 years?
What country is it set in?

More than 10 years ago when I read it, but this was a second hand book, so maybe it was made more than 15 or 20 years ago.
It was set up in Europe, London. The guy had a noble ttitle, just can't remember. The girl's house was big but run down. They don't have enough employee cause they don't have any income. So with the help of the butler or footman she went at night and be a highwayman.

Nishy, please note you can bump your thread every 30 days; not more often because the group is so large.

wendyj (wjbright) | 15 comments You can try these Goodreads lists to see if any fit what you are looking for. https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/8... At least three books on the list have women as the "highwayman". Dark of the Moon, Surrender, Moonstruck Madness, My Lady Notorious, etc.

Other lists include: https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/7...

Sue Elleker | 1053 comments I read one in the 70's called Moonlight Masquerade, but I can't remember the authors name. I think her first name was Laurie, but I can't remember the surname.
It's not the book by Jude Deveraux.

Nishy | 21 comments Spoiler.... (sorry don't know how to hide it)

While she was out being a highwayman, she was shot. And tried to hide it by saying she was sick.
This was what I clearly remember.. the rest not so much.

TinaNoir | 171 comments Laurie McBain's Moonstruck Madness has a heroine who is a highwayman. Her father is not dead, just neglects the kids from the first marriage and lives elsewhere with his second wife.

Also her helpers are two giant farmboy types. She does get shot in this.

Nope. The one I'm looking for was reverse.. her father died, living them with nothing to support them, and she became a highwayman to bring income and provide for her mother.
Thanks though..

Ava (avathegrand) | 12 comments This book came out in 2013, so it might not be the one you are looking for, but it sounds like something you might like. Lady in Disguise by Wendy Vella https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...
The story immediately starts out with a girl and her sister robbing a man in his carriage, who she doesn’t realize until they are robbing him that he was the love of her life 5 years ago before he left without saying goodbye. She gets stabbed by the guys friend after she takes their stuff. Her father died and left them penniless so she resorts to this to support her and her sisters.

Nope. Not this one.

SaraEmmy | 1 comments This is a long shot, but how about Rosamund by Julia Murray.

The info on goodreads say nothing about her acting as a highwayman, but she does. I think they meet for the first time when she is robbing him. I think her brother is a part of it as well. It’s been a while since I read this one, but I think she gets hurt later in the book and is stuck somewhere with the male character.

Thank you, but that's not it also. She doesn't have a brother. It was just her and her mother.

Amber (Daisymau) (daisymau) | 1912 comments I know I've read this. The only book that comes to mind is The Rogue and the Hellion by Connie Mason. I believe her father had died and she was trying to keep the family estate for her mother.

I don't think she was a highwayman in this one but she does save the hero and is shot in the process.
