Yay a happy ending where the moron gets her guy. And the hero lets the villain get away with murdering two young girls so his fiance's family doesn't suffer the stigma of having a cousin as a murderer.

The author Wendy Vella did an expert job with the characters of the story. They are all well written. This begins the story of 3 sisters who are trying to survive after the death of there parents and the loss of all there wealth.

Olivia/Livvy Langley is the older sister and she is an excellent caregiver and supporter of her two younger sisters Phoebe and Isobella/Bella. Olivia's romantic interest is Lord William/Will Ryder second son of a Duke and brother to the current Duke Joseph 6th Duke of R

The first thing that grabbed my attention was that the main characters were female highway women. I mean how cool is that?! Very. So I needed to know more. We have Olivia, the eldest Langley sister, who bears the burden of taking care of her and her two sisters as their cousin has cut them off and refuses to take care of them like their father hoped he would be he died. Olivia and her sister, Phoebe done masks and pistols and head out into the night to rob an unsuspecting pa

A lovely romance, Lady in Disguise was a wonderful read. There was sweet romance, heinous blackmail, and a surprising secret. I really enjoyed reading this fantastic book.

Olivia was a strong heroine. After her father died, she took responsibility for her sisters, even as her cousin took away their money and left them more and more destitute. Until, there was no money and Olivia had to take to stealing just to get by. Hence, the whole highwayman scheme. I really liked her, for the mos

Run of the mill romance. Okay for a light read; but not particularly memorable.

When Wendy Vella informed me of her new book, Lady in Disguise, I was immediately intrigued by the idea of gently-bred young ladies masquerading as highwaymen in order to make ends meet. Add to that, a childhood love who returns home after being away for five years.

Unconventional heroine + Second chance at love story = insta-love.

Lady in Disguise is a fast-paced and exciting read. I really enjoyed Olivia’s character. She’s full of stubborn pride and reluctant to hand her heart back over, although she may not have ever stopped loving Will in the first place. Her and her sisters have fallen on hard times and are desperate. Desperate times call for desperate measures, and Livvy’s up to the challenge. But, this means she finds herself in some dangerous heart-pounding predicaments. Not to mention, she’s up against a time peri ...more

I'm not sure who recommended this book but I enjoyed it. I like the characters very much and the story was good. I bought the rest of the series because I wanted to read the heroine's sisters HEAs.

That being said, there were a few editing, grammar, plot (like using the wrong name) errors and that really disrupts the flow of the book. At least for me it does. And the next book was much, much worse.

EMOTIONAL HISTORICAL LOVE STORY: STILL RELEVANT

5 STARS Wendy Vella is awarded for this emotional historical yet still relevant terrific Book 1 of her Series The Langley Sisters and I like all 3 of them. Olivia is the oldest and the main sister highlighted in this book and she finds out Will, the one who kissed her, broke her heart by walking away and disappearing has come home after 5 years or so to his home with his brother Duke Joseph. Wow, her life has changed from the spoiled carefree 18 ye

This book was a kind of forgettable historical romance. The premise sounds great: two ladies who have lost their fortune after their parents died disguise themselves as highwaymen and rob rich carriages to try and support themselves and their sickly younger sister. Meanwhile, the younger brother of the local duke returns home after spending years abroad learning to work for himself and amassing his fortune. The heroine, Olivia (aka Livvy, which I hated), was being courted by Will Ryder, the afor ...more

Time and distance in the end did not conquer them.

Don't you just love and abandonment and find each other again story? Well I do. This offering is no exception exception.
Livvie becomes stronger when deserted, harbouring secrets she shoulders away from her siblings. Deserted, not only by Will, but by family and subject to neglect. I'm desperation she and her younger sister make some unwise decisions which exasperated their situation.

“If a man smelled like that,” Livvy loudly sniffed the cinnamon-scented air as they drew near the bakers. “Then I would have no trouble finding love.” “I would gladly wear cinnamon cologne, Miss Langley, if the result was you declaring your undying love to me.” 😍😂 💋My review

I really enjoyed this first book in the Langley Sisters - Wendy Vella spins a great story and her characters are so endearing, you feel as though you are with them. The adventure, suspense, villains, romance, humor and love were everything I look for in a good Regency Romance read and this really did have it all.

Miss Olivia Langley was heartbroken, when she was 17 years, by Lord William Ryder. Will returns after 5 years and who do you suppose is in the first coach the Langley's decid

Since the whole series is on Kindle Unlimited, I thought I would start on the one book I already owned to see if I liked it. I've read other books by Wendy Vella, and it has her usual flair this one is strictly historical romance without any fantasy elements. I did enjoy the Langley sister's relationships immensely! And Olivia and Will are of course a cute couple, and their story was well plotted even if there were a half dozen "never would have happened even without parents chaperoning" moments ...more

Very entertaining story.

I love a good historical romance and this one was very entertaining. Strong, well written main characters and a complement of interesting supporting characters. The plot was full of intrigue and lively conversation and moved very quickly. My only complaint would be the number of editorial mistakes. There were many as tend to be in Vella's books and I wish she would hire a decent editor to polish her writing. That being said, I would recommend this story and I am looking

I liked this story a lot because the leading man reminded me of my "dream" man! I also liked how the sisters took a suggestion by their housekeeper to rob from the rich as highway women. Of course, the housekeeper didn't expect them to take her suggestion seriously, but they have to save up their money to get their younger sister who was in the accident with their parents treatment for her leg.
Olivia doesn't want to open up to Will, and why would she to someone who just left her 5 years earlier

Overwrought and absurd

"She doth protest too much" could be the motto for the TSTL heroine of this silly novel. The "S" in TSTL could stand for either stupid or stubborn. The plot includes everything but the proverbial kitchen sink as it careens as wildly as a runaway carriage. Add to that a lack of understanding between the correct use of I and me, this book has little to recommend it. Find something that features a heroine with a smidgen of common sense.

This started as a very promising read. The plot was good the first chapters had me hooked. However I was positively seething when they head to London. My hatred of the spoilt hero was 5000 percent and yet the heroine melts like putty in jis hand just because she is vulnerable. There is no way five years of hurt would relent so quickly. The second half of this book redeems its self somewhat, but not enough for me to give this more than a 3 star which is a shame as the author is a good writer

Love returned

Will left for 5 years to be the man he should have been. He returned wealthy mature and to a different woman. Livvy aka Olivia has loved him for years. She bore the burdens, secrets and expense of her family far too young. Will realizes Livvy has secrets and is determined to love her and save her! Swoon worthy!

This is the first book by this author but it will not be the last. I have to be in a certain mood to read historical romance and the speech, environment, feel of the book needs to be that of the time period or its a no for me... This book hit all the marks and is a great read. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes historical romance that are not the same cookie cutter story line.

The first book in The Langley Sisters series this is Miss Olivia Langley and Lord William Ryder's story. Olivia has had to become a Highway man in order to keep her family together after her Father's death. Will comes back into her life when she robs him. Will they get a second chance to get their happy ending? I recommend this book. I read a copy through KU and I am voluntarily reviewing.

Will has returned home after five years away. He left without telling anyone and that included Livvy the girl who was in love with him. His first night back in England he is robbed. What he doesn’t know is it is Livvy and her sister dressed as men. While he was gone her parents died leaving her broke. Can these two get back together?

Writing is something Wendy has always found time for, and as an incurable romantic, the romance genre was a natural fit. When her children were small, she would find writing time in the early hours of the morning, sitting quietly with her grandfather’s old typewriter while the family slept. These works, however, she says, will never see the light of day! She joined Romance Writers of New Zealand a ...more
