From the GR blurb New York Times bestselling author Beatriz Williams recreates the New York City of A Certain Age in this deliciously spicy adventure that mixes past and present and centers on a Jazz Age love triangle involving a rugged Prohibition agent, a saucy redheaded flapper, and a debonair Princetonian from a wealthy family.
The book is better than this blurb in that normally I am sick and tired of love triangles--so over done! Other than a few stereotypical things and some predictable things, this was a good read. I went through this book about 1/2 and 1/2 audiobook and print book. The performer who read for the more recent protagonist has an unusual accent, but once I got used to it I thought it fit nicely. I also think that having one reader per protagonist (in the present and the past stories) worked beautifully. However, it's not 4 stars because I'm not sure if I'd have been quite as drawn into he story so well if I hadn't started with the audiobook, and also some of it was so bad with stereotyping certain people (not talking about the style stuff, as that was fine) and I'm just not into anything paranormal and there is a bit of that in this.
