I believe this was a fantasy book. keep in mind I read this book when i was very young but it haunts me to this day. I believe an old lady was a maid in this castle, potentially in the sky. There was a master of the castle with a temper, one specific part i remember was he threw dinner (soup?) at the wall and was howling and yelling, the maid was telling him to cut it out and eat or something. Please help, i need to find this book.

I think you're right, yesterday I was having a sleepover and my friend had the movie. It suddenly clicked, I remembered the goo scene, a living caste, the maid part I remembered suddenly made sense, Howl technically was a crybaby monster in a sense, I think thats it.. it's been so long... I found it... Thank you

It's the only book I know of that has a flying castle, and the young woman that was made into an old maid. Glad you found your book. It was a very good series. I love Diana Wynne Jones.
