Young group of adults create gateway to alternate earth where no humanity exists. Around same time Yellowstone volcano erupts and these young adults help relocate survivors to this new world.

Is the alternate earth a different planet?

I think I read it 3-4 years ago, read so many books not absolutely sure. It could be YA. Don't remember if it was a different planet, vaguely remember it as an alternate earth with no people, maybe it had some dinosaurs.

Bit of a long shot, but there are some similarities with "The Long Earth" by Terry Pratchett and Stephen Baxter, especially with some of the later books in the series.

Not by Pratchett. It was a new author.
