What I find hard to suspend my disbelief about is (view spoiler)[whether an impact near the shallow water of Chesapeake Bay would vaporize that much more water than the Chicxulub impact near the Yucatan Peninsula did. That meteorite most probably triggered the Cretaceous–Paleogene extinction event, but it only led to an impact winter. Why would an impact off the Chesapeake be so different? That could have been better explained. (hide spoiler)]
