. Omg! What a wonderful surprise! I don't remember why I added this book to my list but it's definitely a departure of genre for me. Characters are very strong in this and I love it. Even when it switches POV, everybody we meet feels fully fleshed out, realistic and relatable. And it's a compelling post-apocalyptic as well with an intriguing mystery that has me hooked. I did not expect to love this as much as I do.Also reading
. Very interesting. I like the entertaining premise and this author knows what she's doing with characters as well.
Finished
Ashes, Ashes, They All Fall Dead - 3 star, The story was good, but I found the MC's irritating and distracting from the story lineAlso read
BladeDust Online - 2 star, the writing was very simplistic with short sentences with little sub-stance. It followed the adventures of the MC but the actions of other characters that were alluded to but not expanded on seemed to be the more interesting story
The Bookshop on the Corner - 4 star, I found this an amusing and endearing story. Very cute and happy, plan to read the next in the series
Bayou Born - 4 star, I was a little leery of the story at the beginning but it got better as it went along and it was difficult to put down during the last few chapters. Interesting to see how the next book goesNow reading
Cremains of the Day
I'm working though the Sookie Stackhouse books currently i'm on the 5th book. I know i'm so late to the party with this one but if anyone is reading these or has read them and wants to talk with me id be extremely happy. My friends don't really read, so i just end up sounding crazy rambling about books they'll never read. Dead as a Doornail
I'm reading Scribe Irin chronicles book 1 by Elizabeth Hunter. So far I'm enjoying it and wish I had more time so I could sit down and finish it.
Rachel wrote: "I'm working though the Sookie Stackhouse books currently i'm on the 5th book. I liked Quinn and, of course, Eric a lot. And I liked how the books explored the were-panthers more than just making them druggie hillbillies like on the show. Enjoy!
Finished
Cremains of the Day - 3 Star, it was a cute tale and enjoyable to read. Also read
The Night Realm - 3 star, Interesting premise and characters. There was too much action / suspense towards the end with the MC's constantly being captured and escaping. Sometimes Clio's powers were stronger when they needed to be and weaker when the story required without any real consistancy
The Monster Spawn - 4 star, I liked the fact that the MC tried to keep his humanity while trying to use the powers inherent in the monster. Now reading
Return to Dungeon
Finished
Return to Dungeon - I generously gave this a 3 star, while the story was exciting and the characters were interesting, the editing was horrible and caused issues with the story flow. Now reading
Dial D for Deadman
Keeping His Siren: Creature of the Darkness by Kiersten FayI read this from netgalley.com before release date for a review. Great book
Finished
Dial D for Deadman - 4 star, I found it humorous with a good story flow and interesting charactersAlso read
Dungeon Player - 3 star, interesting premise
SLIME - 3 star, it was an enjoyable read, looking forward to see where the story goes in the next bookNow reading
Three Mages and a Margarita
Unchained by Shayne Silvers.(Feathers and Fire #1)
Since they're on Kindle Unlimited, I just finally decided to read all the Nate Temple books by Shayne Silvers. The original Temple Chronicles is such a popular series (starts with Obsidian Son) but I could never really get interested because it's written ONLY from the male pov. Then I realized the author had a related offshoot series (Feathers and Fire) with a female lead, so I started there instead and really LOVED the world building and everything else about Callie Penrose! I would definitely say that it took Callie's books to trick me into liking the arrogant Nate Temple enough to read the original series but now I find him to be more endearing than annoying and I'm loving the first series too!
So far, my favorites from each are Angel's Roar (Feathers and Fire #4) and Tiny Gods (Temple Chronicles #6) by Shayne Silvers
Finished
Three Mages and a Margarita -4star, I enjoyed the characters and the MC was not a damsel in distress Also read
Cherry Blossom Girls - 3 star, it was good but not great, will read the next book in the series though as the story and characters have potentialNow reading
The Untold Prophecy
Finished
The Untold Prophecy 3 star, Interesting premise and world, will read the next in the series to see how the story plays out. A lot of characters introducedNow reading
Good Intentions
This is what I'm reading now. It's not what I was expecting. It's very unusual. I was expecting more action and there's very little action and a lot of romance. Not much paranormal.
And Holly, thanks for the tip about how to add a book to a comment! You just taught me something new. Thank you!
I need some paranormal romance Recs with vampires ideally. I can’t get back into JR Ward or Dianne Duvall books
Frostbound Throne: Song of Heaven and Ice I just finished this today going to start a new series while I wait for last fae chronicles and next ACOTAR book to come out!

by Karen Marie Moning. My first time through this series and I'm almost done, this is book 10. I dunno what happens after this one. Is it the end..."SO i'm glad you're reading the Fever series because i stopped after book five because of all the not so great reviews. Please tell me how you feel about the rest of the series I'm so curious. maybe ill pick them back up again.
Rachel wrote: "I'm working though the Sookie Stackhouse books currently i'm on the 5th book. I'm beginning to get really sad because i'm going to miss all the characters when i finish. If anyone has any recommendations of what series to read next i'll be eternally in your debt.
I’m actually re-reading Kristen Ashley’s “Chaos” series right now, but obviously started it with “Motorcycle Man” which is in the ”Dream Man” series but it’s about Tack, the President of Chaos and Tyra, his “Woman”. I can seriously always re-read Kristen Ashley, she’s a genius, but I do think sometimes all her hero’s sometimes take on the same personalities, at least series wise. Except “Fantasyland,” The heroes were all ALPHA, of course, but they were different personality wise.
Trying to finish the demon slayer series by Angie Fox. Of course, I can't find one of the books..what slays in Vegas. Also trying to finish the Miranda Martin Dragons of Tajss, heading into number 14 and the snow leopard's heart from Zoe chant. I love her books
L.J. wrote: "I'm tearing my way through everything Seanan McGuire lately. She is just amazing"Seanan McGuire is the absolute best! Which series are you currently into?
Toby Daye is my very favorite fairy-tale....tale series. Incryptid scratches that itch I get for a funny-monster books and I still need to get caught up on those.
I'm actually currently reading
, which has some insane and pretty dark concepts. It's a bit dense, but really enjoyable.

Those series are always kind of in my peripheral vision...I never actually get brave enough to try them for the same reasons you listed. :)

Oh, you are very welcome! I think it's easier to see if it's something I can talk about if I can see the cover at a glance. I figure I can't be the only one. :)
I've been looking at that series, too. I'm a sucker for a period-piece anything with serial killers. Then I noticed the other names further in the series. Even though it's not what you expected, would you recommend them?
Finished
Good Intentions - 4 star, I found it very enjoyable with interesting characters and premise. There are quite a few sex scenes, but nothing overly graphic. I think my favorite character was Rachel, I loved her sassinessStarted
The Syn-En Solution
Well after finishing Furyborn and not wanting to pick up a hard cover edition of Kingsbane while also in a panic because the bookstore was closing i grabbed A Court of Thorns and Roses. I've been thinking about reading it for a while but the mixed reviews made me anxious. So, do I like it, yes. Do I think it could be better, possibly. I keep finding myself terribly bored then after a chapter i'm sucked back in, then bored again and so on.
If anyone else happens to be reading the series let me know i'm curious to see how others feel about it.
I'm almost done reading N9ne by TM Frazier. Then I'm starting an arc The Dust And The Roar by Cat Porter
Rachel wrote: "Well after finishing Furyborn and not wanting to pick up a hard cover edition of Kingsbane while also in a panic because the bookstore was closing i grabbed [book:A Court of Thorns and Roses|160968..."Just like Maas's other series, the first book is my least favorite and the story actually gets SO much better the further it goes on.
Her characters always end up in a different place (mentally / emotionally) by the end of their journeys,
So if you are on the fence, but still interested, I say give the rest a go. The direction the characters move in after book 1 will probably surprise you.
If, however, you are completely bored to tears and have no interest in what happens next, drop it. Life is short.
Finished The Syn-En Solution
- 4 star - Interesting characters and world creation, the story flowed well and the information on the world was filled in without detracting from the storyAlso readLost: Saved By Love
- 3 star - I didn't believe the reactions of the characters to the situation that was presented, there were numerous intimate encounters which were steamy and well written. (view spoiler) I just was not pulled into the story, to many points that I found to be unbelievable and knocked me out of the story. Now reading The Princess & the Penis
["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
Read kiss of Deception It was a good book.. might wanna try that.. Apart from Patricia Briggs and Nalini Singh.
Finished The Princess & the Penis
- It was short and cuteAlso read Fighting Destiny
- I was a little leery near the beginning of the book that it was going to turn into a dominance / submission story, I am glad I stuck with it though and am looking forward to reading the next installmentForbidden Forest
- I enjoyed the characters and their interactions, I am curious on how the story will play out in the next bookNow reading The Road
Rachel wrote: "Well after finishing Furyborn and not wanting to pick up a hard cover edition of Kingsbane while also in a panic because the bookstore was closing i grabbed [book:A Court of Thorns and Roses|160968..."I read the whole series about two months ago. I enjoyed the first one but didn't love it.. but I absolutely ADORE the second book. "A Court of Mist and Fury" is amazing and I gave it 5 stars. I immediately reread it after I finished it, that's how good it was. The first and third book are good, but the second is worth reading the whole series for!
Finished
The Road - I enjoyed this book the most out of the series so far, River is coming into her powers more and proves that she is no damsel in distressNow reading
The Dom with a Safeword
Finished
The Dom with a Safeword - Very hot and enjoyable, the MCs were interesting and their interactions were entertainingAlso read
Into the North - another great story in the series
Watching Sin - Very hot, but the ending was a little off putting to me
The Last Banquet of Temporal Confections - Interesting premise and story style
Shattered Lands - Interesting story and characters you love to hate, don't know if I will read the other books in the series though
Damaged Dungeon - I am still reading this series, there is promise in the premise and I am interested in how it turns out
Shades of Fury - The story isn't bad and the MC is shaping up to be a strong character, but it just didn't pull me in enough to continue the series
His Kinky Kitten: The Halloween Honeys - Short, fun, hot read
Enshrined - If this series wasn't on KU I wouldn't continue it. Sometimes the story and characters are rather juvenileNow reading
The Path to Peace
I'm currently about half way through the 2nd All Souls Trilogy book. Absolutely loving it! Shadow of Night by Deborah Harkness.
