Speaking of romance, what is your opinion of Gage and Claire’s romance? Did their age difference matter (he’s 42, she’s 30)?

Anita (anitanodiva) | 849 comments There were all kinds of problems with this romance and the age difference was the least of the issues, but still a real factor. In the end the overwhelming physical attraction and their true love for each other overcame those issues. I just don't think that true life ends quite so well.

Karen ♐ (kmk1214) | 101 comments There were many problems definitely with this couple. I do think that when Danny died, Claire decided that she wasn't going to dwell on their differences and just live each day the way she wanted. I think the age difference was more that she wanted children some day.

Laura I liked the romance and could feel his love for her. The no kids thing I don't think was addressed much with him. Did he ever say we can adopt or whatever? The age isn't an issue I don't think.

Anita (anitanodiva) | 849 comments I could feel his deep love too. In a lot of cases the vasectomy can be reversed. That issue really wasn't addressed. The book ended with Claire happy with her step-mom role, so I was let to think that she gave up on kids of her own.

I definitely got Gage’s love for Claire. And I got her concerns. I just thought her immature in her communication with Gage. She left him thinking she no longer cared deeply for him instead of being more upfront about her real concerns. That’s where I believe the age difference mattered. He had more experience in communication than she did but Claire stubbornly refused to engage.

Once she started talking, really sharing her true feelings, the romance started working for me. That silence stuff just bores me.

Laura Gage is divorced though so he could have been a poor communicator the first go around. He's had a lot of time to work on it.
