I have to read The Lightning Thief for a university course. So read the first 125 pages or so and have bot been impressed. I don't think I'm wired right for some YA stuff.

Nyxia is nothing like the Lightning Thief, Rick Riordan writes an okay story but you never feel like this is any real danger and it can be quite childish. I'm not saying you'll love Nyxia, but there is not a lot of childishness in this book and there is definitely quite a bit of danger. As Paul said this is more like Red Rising and nothing at all like The Lightning Thief

@Lancer Rick Riordan is mostly read by pre-teens at the library I work at. I started Nyxia and it's definitely a maturity step up.

I would definitely say the Percy Jackson books are towards the younger end of YA.
