I am looking fir a book written in the mid-sixties. I think it was young adult. The MC was a young girl in San Francisco, who, along with her brother, lives next door to a rich widow(?). There is a mystery involving a cat statue, and I believe that may be in the title. The mystery is solved when an earthquake breaks the cat statue and reveals something inside..a clue, an item?
