Great! Good luck and happy reading Emma!

Opening Survey!1) What fine part of the world are you reading from today? Mission Beach, Queensland, Australia
2) Which book in your stack are you most looking forward to? Continuing with 'The Labyrinth of Spirits'
3) Which snack are you most looking forward to? They all have a time and place! Honey-coated cashews? Grapes? Peanut M&Ms? All of them!
4) Tell us a little something about yourself! I'm a nurse and do shift work, so hopefully my irregular routine will serve me well for this.
5) If you participated in the last read-a-thon, what’s one thing you’ll do different today? If this is your first read-a-thon, what are you most looking forward to? This is my 6th or 7th Dewey's readathon I think. This time I have rented a self-contained bungalow in a rainforest near a beach, so I have none of the distractions of home... Just me and the forest and the beach (and the rain at the moment...)
I'm awake now! I just had to have a sleep, which I don't normally this early into RaT, but it has been a mad couple of weeks with getting a new job and preparing to move to a different region. I must be more tired than I realised!
5am here in my part of Australia. After a bit of sleep earlier I'm feeling okay. Time for a shower to freshen up.
9:00am Just went out and got some coffees (1 for now and 2 more to keep me going later). The rainforest bungalow that I am staying in only has instant and I would rather not go there!
Mid-Event Survey1. What are you reading right now?
The Fiery Cross by Diana Gabaldon
2. How many books have you read so far?
I've haven't finished any (I hardly ever do during Readathon), but I have read/listened to part of 6 different books
3. What book are you most looking forward to for the second half of the Read-a-thon?
Just getting on with it and trying not to get distracted
4. Have you had many interruptions? How did you deal with those?
I've been out to get coffee, and I took 3 hours sleep overnight. Other than that it's just Goodreads that is distracting me!
5. What surprises you most about the Read-a-thon, so far?
How little I have actually read. I booked a room away from home because I thought it would provide less distractions, but it doesn't seem too...

I tried gettign away from home thinking the same think. I think I just couldn't properly get comfortable. Mentally of physically. Hope you are having fun at least!
Jamie wrote: I tried gettign away from home thinking the same think. I think I just couldn't properly get comfortable. Mentally of physically. Hope you are having fun at least! Yeah. It's been a nice break, even if I haven't read as much as usual. Home is in chaos at the moment as I am packing to move house (and region) in 2 weeks, so a nice get-away before the final push!

Into the last hour. It’s 9pm here and I’ve just showered & hopped into bed. I’ll finish off the last hour reading in here. Another excellent readathon 😊
I’ll update with final numbers tomorrow.
Thanks everyone who participated and enjoyed, and especially to the organisers and volunteers
This was by far my least 'productive' readathon ever. I got much less reading/listening done than usual. But I have to cut myself some slack... I am in the middle of packing to move to a new region, and had come off night-shift so was already sleep deprived. I still enjoyed the reading that I did get done, and it was a lot more than I would have done without Readathon.
Thanks as always to the organisers and volunteers for a great event and all the hard work that you put in! I truly do appreciate it 🥰

Sounds like a good readathon Emma! You participated and enjoyed your reading, that’s what it’s all about!

I have participated in many now. I always answer this question the same! I need to do less checking in and more reading!

Oh wow, stating at 10pm sounds rough, unless you've had a good long nap during the day. Good luck and good reading in the remaining hours.
Leni wrote: "Oh wow, stating at 10pm sounds rough, unless you've had a good long nap during the day. Good luck and good reading in the remaining hours."Haha. I actually don't mind starting in the evening, as it gets the night-time hours done when I'm less tired. I find the reverse readathons more difficult!
It's 9pm here and I am soooo tired! I'm going to head to bed for the last hour and listen to an audiobook. I'll do my final count in the morning. As always, thanks so much to those who put all the time and effort into making these readathons a success! You are amazing! 😍
Wow, I'm always amazed how people go with little to no sleep. I really need my minimum of 5-6 hours otherwise I won't process a word lol
Looks like you had an amazing readathon, Emma, despite the painkillers. Hope you'll feel better soon. See you in April I hope!

Oct '21 Readathon Wrap-UpDespite being really tired I love that this readathon has got me back into a bit of a reading groove. I was in a bit of a slump before.
Total pages read: 335
Total time listening: 3 hr, 43 min
For me RaT isn't really about minutes or pages though. It's about finishing books that I've had on the go for a while and making progress where I may have been in a slump.
Definitely a success by those standards!
Again, I can't express my appreciation enough for those who give their time organising and volunteering for this event.
See you all in April (hopefully)!
Susy wrote: "Hi Emma, hope you'll be joining us tomorrow for Dewey's? If so, happy readathon!"Was disappointed to not be able to participate this time. Hopefully my roster will be more kind in October (or August if there's a reverse readathon)

Susy wrote: "Hi Emma, will you be participating in the reverse readathon? If so, good luck & happy reading!"I'd love to be participating. Unfortunately I'm working most of the weekend 🤨 I will definitely focus on reading during my time off, but won't really have time to participate.
I hope you (and everyone else) have a great readathon!
I came here to post my book list, and found that I haven't participated since Last October! It certainly doesn't feel like it's been whole year...
Here's my TBR for October 2022:I hope to finish some books that I have had going for a very long time, and then go to my bookshelf. There are so many physical books in my shelf that I haven't read. As I get through them I want to give them away and shrink my collection, particularly ones that I am unlikely to reread, which I think is most of them.
Currently reading:
Through the Stones; by Diana Gabaldon (physical book)
Shogun; by James Clavell (kindle)
Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone; by Diana Gabaldon (audiobook)
Bearing the Unbearable; by Joanne Cacciatore (kindle)
Pride and Prejudice; by Jane Austen (audiobook)
Honeybee; by Craig Silvey (audiobook)To read next:
In Exile; by Alexandra Turney (physical book)
The Secret Lives of Introverts; by Jenn Granneman (physical book)
The Serpent's Mark; by S. W. Perry (audiobook)

Thanks Erin. I hope you enjoy it too 😊
1) What fine part of the world are you reading from today? Maroochydore on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland, Australia
2) Which book in your stack are you most looking forward to?
I'm enjoying Pride and Prejudice (again!). Will be very sad to finish Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone because that is the end of the series so far... Might have to start back at the beginning!
3) Which snack are you most looking forward to?
Chips and dip
4) Tell us a little something about yourself!
I'm a perioperative nurse working in the Post-Anaesthetic Care Unit. I live alone and absolutely couldn't have it any other way! I have a few personal struggles going on at the moment, so I am hoping Readathon puts them on hold for 24 hours and I can escape for a bit
Emma wrote: "I came here to post my book list, and found that I haven't participated since Last October! It certainly doesn't feel like it's been whole year..."Agree!
Pride and prejudice is such a gem, it is definitely worth repeated reading
I just took a break and slept for a few hours... I don't normally have a solid sleep during RaT, just a few naps. But my mental health is such that I am not willing to rock the boat too much right now, so I slept! But now on waking have just finished the latest Outlander book. Over the last few months I have listened to the Outlander series of audiobooks one after the other. This equates to around 413 hours (17 days) of listening were I to have done it non-stop! And I am left feeling a little empty and lost. It has been a small part of my day, every day, since I started Book 1 (again) on Dec 25th 2021.
During this time my world has been turned upside down by the sudden and unexpected death of my mother, who (along with my sister) was my closest friend. One of the things that held me together through this time was the familiarity of listening to Davina Porter every night before I went to sleep (and often also during the day). Now that this has finished I'm not sure that I won't start from the beginning again! I'd like to include the novellas if I do listen again.
What are you reading right now? - Bearing the Unbearable by Joanne CacciatoreHow many books have you read so far? - Have made progress in 5 books that were already underway prior to RaT. Finished one of them
What book are you most looking forward to for the second half of the readathon? - Continuing Pride and Prejudice
Have you had many interruptions? How did you deal with those? - Only to sleep, which I don't normally do but needed to this time
