I second that. Really impressive Emma!

Emma | 168 comments I only just found out about the Reverse Read-a-thon! Luckily I am not working and I have nothing planned because we are forecast for a rainy weekend.

It'll be harder than usual I think. In a normal read-a-thon it starts at 10pm for me so the tired hours are during the daytime. This time I have to start at 10am :-(

I'm up for the challenge!

Elyse (winesaboutbooks) | 2506 comments Woohoo welcome back! It's the opposite for me. Usually my start time is 8am and this time it's 8pm. I took today off from work and slept in, might take a nap later but probably not. I'm hoping I can muscle through the night.

Emma | 168 comments Whew! Got up early, went to the market to get my coffee beans, the supermarket for groceries and snacks, and 2 different libraries to make it home in time for 10am start here in Queensland!

Will do a little online stuff and then get into it!

Emma | 168 comments Opening Survey

1)What fine part of the world are you reading from today? And what time is it where you are?
Cairns, Queensland, Australia. Readathon runs from 10am Saturday until 10am Sunday

2) Which book in your stack are you most looking forward to?
The Shadow of the Wind (The Cemetery of Forgotten Books, #1) by Carlos Ruiz Zafón The Shadow of the Wind, by Carlos Ruiz Zafón

3) Which snack are you most looking forward to?
The savoury ones (calzone, sausage rolls, pizza)

4) Do you have a #reversereadathon plan of attack?
Nope. Just do it. I had naps in 4 different hours last time. This time will be harder because of the reverse so I will already have done a lot of reading by the time I have to think about reading through the night

5) Are you doing the readathon solo or with others?
Solo (with the Goodreads group to keep me motivated!)

Emma | 168 comments Mid-Event Survey

What are you reading right now?
The Shadow of the Wind
Dragonfly in Amber
Cybele's Secret (audiobook)
Dragon Keeper (audiobook)
Russka (kindle)

How many books have you read so far?
Read parts of the 5 above
Finished 1 that I have had on the go for ages

What book are you most looking forward to for the second half of the read-a-thon?
Finishing 'The Shadow of the Wind'

Have you had many interruptions?
No

How did you deal with those?
Limiting social media to once an hour (or less)

What surprises you most about the read-a-thon so far?
How much harder it is to start at 10am rather than 10pm. I find it easier to get through the night-time hours while I'm fresh.

message 65: by Emma (new)

Emma | 168 comments Closing Survey!

How would you assess your reading overall?
I got really absorbed in 'The Shadow of the Wind', so made really good progress when I was reading that in particular, but also enjoyed the freedom of switching to audiobooks at times.

Did you have a stategy, and if so, did you stick to it?
Not really. Just stay awake as much as possible, read/listen as much as possible, and update GR hourly

What was your favorite snack?
Pizza was the perfect dinner, and breakfast smoothie hit the spot...

Wanna volunteer for our next event?
Happy just participating for now. Thanks to all who do so much to organise these Readathons!

Thanks Kate. I’m expecting to find Picnic at Hanging Rock quote dated, but I recently watched the mini-series so I’m interested to read the original book

Hi Emma. I am interested in whar ypu have to say about The Aging Brain. I exercise my brain here, reading different types of books to force it to work. I am interested to see what suggestions standout for you.

So far it is mainly about physical health and the role of genetics, but I'm only about 25% through. Lots of stats and common sense like effects of smoking, drinking, mental health etc

message 76: by Emma (new)

Emma | 168 comments Opening Survey

1) What fine part of the world are you reading from today?
Cairns, Queensland, Australia

2) Which book in your stack are you most looking forward to?
Continuing (& hopefully finishing) Dragonfly in Amber

3) Which snack are you most looking forward to?
I'm doing a 24-hour fast this round, so it'll be all about the bone broth and the coffee!

4) Tell us a little something about yourself!
Don't read many physical books, I listen to a lot of audiobooks. So RaT is great to get me back into real reading

5) If you participated in the last read-a-thon, what’s one thing you’ll do different today? If this is your first read-a-thon, what are you most looking forward to?
I say it every time - less social media, more reading!

Oh gosh, I don't think I'd be able to fast and read for 24 hours! Not that I've ever tried. lol. Good luck! Yay Outlander!! <3

message 78: by Emma (new)

Emma | 168 comments Fail! I had planned to do a 24-hour fast during this RaT, but I've decided that fasting is much easier when you can sleep for at least some of it!

I think I'll find it much easier now with something in my belly!
