SOLVED. 1980s YA book about a girl whose diary is stolen. [s]

From what I can remember, her diary goes missing from her locker at school, and the person who has it starts releasing bits and pieces to the other kids in the school. I think her name might have been Dawn, but I'm not sure. I remember that the cover of the book was a painting/drawing of a girl (blonde, I think), wearing a baggy sweater, walking down a school hallway. I think she was clutching books to her chest.

Thank you for the ideas so far. Unfortunately, none of them are the book I'm looking for. Who's Reading Darci's Diary is definitely similar, but the girl in the book I read was in high school. It was not part of a series. It was a stand-alone book that I ordered through Scholastic during one of those school book fairs. I remember I was only 9 or so, and my mom worried that it was too mature for me. It was definitely set in a high school.

YES!!!! Oh my goodness - thank you so much!!! This is the book I have been looking for on-and-off for the last five or so years. My memory was definitely off on some things, so maybe that's why I couldn't find it on my own. I had no idea it was part of a series.
