I have updated my book on Amazon. Does this apply to me? Sorry, but I am totally confused by 'new edition' and 'new work'. :) Thanks.

Sorry, but I am totally confused by 'new edition' and 'new work'. :) Thanks.""Edition" would refer to the hardcover edition, the paperback edition, the audiobook edition, the kindle edition, etc. of a book. All editions of a book get combined into one work which consolidates ratings and reviews of all editions, shows the work in search results, correctly on series pages if applicable, ... Members can stiill pick which edition of a book they want to read or shelve.
Before this update on a book page authors and librarians could click to "add an edition" but it wouldn't. It would create a whole new book without the work/ book's ratings that would then have to be combined by someone with the other editions. Now saying "add an edition" adds an edition.
I had occasion to add a "new edition" and it worked flawlessly. This is a great improvement!
I am having trouble using the new fix...I inserted all the information and it told me that ISBN already existed and I couldn't add the edition. (Of course the ISBN already exists! It is the same book, just a different edition!) Am I not supposed to put in the ISBN?Thanks,
Karen

But the short answer is no, leave the ISBN field blank.
