I am re-reading the Mortal Instruments. I read the Infernal Devices last month. I don't like Cassandra's reading order because she has the Infernal Devices and the Mortal Instruments mixed in and they take place in 2 different time periods 1800s and now.

I gues the order you read in is to everyone to choose. Everyone reads it different. I really liked this order, cause TID had some things in it that cleared some things off and it's easier to understand some thing in later 3 TMI books. At least for me.

The reason she suggests it like that is because there's characters in the second half of the mortal instruments has characters from the infernal devices in it.

You can also start with the infernal devices since it's kind of a prequel series. Totally up to you!

It was a little strange jumping 'back in time" but after I was happy I did it this way, because I knew a back story of some characters.

Review: THANK GOD I GOT THROUGH THIS! Ugh what a slog. I was lost basically from start to finish, only really following Simon, as per usual. Why did I feel like this book was one of the most boring in the series. Thank gosh I actually finally finished this bloody series, now I can forget about it and get rid of it! YAAAAYYYYYYY I liked the tie-in with Infernal Devices in this book, and a crossover of some of the characters. But just honestly I'm done with all of this crap.

And Jem stealing Church was probably the greatest thing of this series, even though I don't understand how the cat is still alive lol. This was definitely better than CoFA or CoLS for me since there's very little relationship drama as compared to those. I did like that Simon was brought into the Shadowhunter world as a possible ascendant (hide spoiler)]
