I dont know if I am enjoying it?? Maybe just not my cup of tea. I love fantasy and Sci fi and YA but I don't know what it is about this book. I bought this book for my teenage daughter a long time ago and she also started it but never finished. I will finish it but at this moment I dont know if I will read the whole series.

it was okay....ish but the ending made it better for me.

Very much like Harry Potter, Muggle world where no one sees the mythical creatures that are actually real!! Wearwolves are good...

I like how this book focuses more on Simon. It was about time that he got some spotlight. However, when did he become kind of a jerk? Dating both Isabelle and Maia at the same time?! I know he has been going through a lot of changes since he became a vampire, but he needs to stop procrastinating and make a decision! (hide spoiler)]

That’s alright Adrie! The series is not for everyone! I’m glad you gave it a try to find out for yourself you’re not a big fan! I’m so delayed on getting to Clockwork Prince with RL getting in the way but I’ve enjoyed reading your comments on what you did read.

Oh no, they got Maureen! That is really sad. She may be okay with being young forever now, but I remember reading Interview with a Vampire and being a child forever wears on you. Hopefully, Maureen doesn't become bad now that she is a vampire… (hide spoiler)]

Although the original story ended with the first three books and Valentine has been defeated, I still like the continuation of the series. It was annoying to find out that after all that, Sebastian isn't technically dead. Hopefully, they will unlink Jace and Sebastian so they can destroy Sebastian's body for good. Chapter 2 - I think dealing with the Queen of the Seelie Court is a bad idea. I know that the group feels like they have no choice, but this is definitely going to come back to bite them. Those faeries are not to be trusted.

Chapter 5 - I am trying to figure out what kind of mind control Jace is under right now. He can't be himself entirely, however there is more of his true self there than when he was possessed by Lilith. (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 8 - Clary is really brave (or reckless) to go off and join Jace and Sebastian at their hideout. At least she told one person what she planned to do. Hopefully those rings still work and Clary can get in contact with Simon soon!

Chapter 10 - Aww I was hoping Maureen wouldn't go rogue and hurt people. Hopefully they will be able to reason with her ad don't have to contain or kill her :( it is sad that this had to be her fate. (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 15 - I am always curious. If someone accidentally hurts Simon do they get that pain 7-fold? Even if it wasn't intentional? I feel like if that is the case, then Isabelle is really brave for being with him. Imagine accidentally tripping or running into him one day…

Chapter 16 - I'm so happy that Simon's sister took the news of him being a vampire better than his mom. Maybe she will come around? At least he has Rebecca now. That would've been too sad losing both. Honestly, I'm surprised she didn't ask more questions like, how did it happen or how can you walk in daylight? (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 18 - I hope that people/vampires who want Simon dead don't come after him now that he traded his Mark for the sword…

Chapter 21 - Oh no Amatis! That is really sad! I hope that this can be reversed. I don't understand why Sebastian would have her taken and force her to drink from his demonic cup unless it was just as an example. I am sure we will find out in the next book. (hide spoiler)]

Prologue - I hate reading about good Shadowhunters turning into bad ones because of the demonic Infernal Cup that Sebastian made. It makes me so sad! No one has found a way to reverse it yet, but hopefully someone fines a cure?

Chapter 2 - I feel so bad that Simon gets alienated from the rest of the group because he is a vampire. I understand that he can't come into Institutes or go to Idris, but I hope he never feels betrayed and leaves his friends and Clary. The Shadowhunters are a bit prejudiced when it comes to Downworlders. (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 4 - Of course Sebastian would be working with the Faerie Queen. She never seemed like she could be trusted. What is she doing this for, though? What does she want?

Chapter 8 - Awww I am quite sad that Jordan is dead. It was such an unceremonious and expected death.

Chapter 10 - I forgot that this book started tying in things that happened in Cassandra Clare's other series that she was working on at the time, The Infernal Devices. (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 13 - That is really sad about Mark. He joined the Wild Hunt because he was tricked into believing his entire family was dead, and now he can't leave. Maybe there is a loophole in the rules somewhere?

Chapter 16 - Okay, now I am really curious to know what Jace dreamed of when they first arrived in Edom. Everyone else's dreams were revealed except his.

Chapter 19 - I know Isabelle wasn't going to die (not good for the plot), but I am still mad at Jace for doing something so stupid. Simon tried to warn him, and he didn't listen. (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 23 - I actually almost feel bad for Sebastian/Jonathon now that the evil has been removed from his body by the heavenly fire. It is too bad that Valentine did that to his own son. He could've been completely different if he hadn't been given demon blood before he was born. It is rather sad.

Chapter 24 - I am honestly devastated right now by Asmodeus taking away Simon's memories of everyone. It is so sad! All of those years with Clary… gone :( (hide spoiler)]

Ch. 1-10
(view spoiler)[I love this series still. The characters are all so great. I’ve never felt so invested in both sides of a love triangle before. I love Jem and Will. Now that we know Will’s curse I feel so terrible for him, but I’m so glad he shared it with Magnus so he had someone to talk to. As always, I love Magnus too.
I was so frustrated that the beautiful Jem/Tessa moment got interrupted but then accidentally bumping and spilling his meds. For whatever reason I feel like she will end up going for Will, and I really want Jem to have her love first. He’s my favorite character overall and I just want him to have something good, especially after all the good he’s done. I wish there was another character that would come in and one would fall for so everyone could be happy. (hide spoiler)]

January 15 - 4% It's about time I started this series, since I marked I wanted to read it years ago. Thank you Challenge Corner for the nudge haha.

January 16 - 10% Will is fantastic! When the handsome man is trying to save you is never wrong, even if he says the sky is purple and made of hedgehogs.

January 22 - 44% Magnus Bane makes me smile.

January 27 - 74% ~truly wanted to just push through and get to the end. I felt like I knew where it was going but still had some head turning twists left for me.~

Today - 100% loved this book! The ending of the official novel was fairly vanilla for me, considering Tessa has been so very self-willed and fairly strong character for a female during that time period. But that cliff hanger with Magnus! Left me literally talking to the book out loud!

Ch. 11-17
(view spoiler)[ Wow so much is happening now. Even though I couldn’t stand Nate, it’s written in a way that his death makes me feel sad, but more sad for Tessa. But what did he mean by those things he said before he dies, almost like what he’s done had been to protect her? And also that she didn’t even know what else more he’d done? I need to know!
And poor Will—he was never even cursed and has basically been torturing himself for the past five years! Imagine all the time he’s lost with people he loves.
Even though I love Jem so much I feel like Tessa’s love for him isn’t as strong as for Will, and now that Will doesn’t have to hold back, I hope she doesn’t lead Jem on if she truly loves Will. It will break Jem’s heart and I don’t want it to be any worse for Jem by her going further with him when she will end up loving Will most. :/

(view spoiler)[My heart is broken in so many ways. I feel like this love triangle is lose lose lose! No one wants to hurt any of the others and they all love each other :/
But it’s horrible because Jem doesn’t know about the other things going on and Tessa already wasn’t fully in love with just Jem, so now that she knows will’s feelings, she wouldn’t be able to just forget that. And for her to forget Jem’s feelings would be hard if she chose Will. And then there’s Will and Jem, maybe my favorite relationship of all and I really don’t want their bond broken from them both loving Tessa either. If Jem knew he’d do the same as Will is doing, stepping back because of his love for Will, as Will is doing for Jem. This may be the most torturous love triangle I’ve ever read. There is no result that won’t hurt. 😢

On the positive I’m so happy Gideon is on team good and turned against his evil dad! I wish Gabriel had come with him. I hope Gideon and Sophie work out, they seem cute.

And I loved the part where Henry and Charlotte both realized they have always truly loved each other but always thought the other didn’t love them. How sad they’ve been married for years each thinking the other was only there out of duty/settling. I’m so happy their relationship will be stronger going forward. (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[I’m so happy Charlotte and Henry get to keep the institute, and I can’t wait to see how things will go now that Cecily arrived at the institute! And now Will knows he can love his sister and it won’t cause her to die, so that’s good.

I’m really upset about the way the love triangle is being handled now. It’s upsetting that now with Tessa knowing Will’s feelings for her, she seems unable to have any feelings for Jem anymore, even when she had them before. If that’s the case she shouldn’t marry Jem—it’s one thing to have feelings for both but if we constantly have to hear about her feelings for Will only while she’s with Jem, it’s going to make me dislike her. Jem deserves better than that. As does Will. I know Jem’s heart would be broken but he definitely deserves more than someone marrying him to protect him and not hurt him, while that person spends their time wanting to be with someone else. :/ I hope something with this resolves in the next book because right now I’m not happy with how any of this is going for Jem or Will... (view spoiler)[So I have been pretty frustrated with Tessa in this book. I just feel like she’s inadvertently hurting both Jem and Will and I don’t like it.
I love the Lightwood brothers and I really hope they turn out to be good. I’m not worried about Gideon but a little worried Gabriel will be influenced by the stupid Consul. Boy I dislike him.
I am so happy Jem woke up and overheard Will and Magnus, forcing the conversation with Jem. But still Tessa lying to Will makes it so there’s still things hidden. I adore the Jem and Will relationship. I can totally get how she loves them both.
I’m interested to see how the story will change with everyone being in different areas now and not all together in one group at this point. (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[I feel like a lot has been revealed but also some parts have moved slow. I’m glad we found out about Tessa’s parents finally and why Mortmain wants her(very much like Valentine).
I’m devastated about Jem and it was so heartbreaking how it affected Will so he knows even though he wasn’t there. It’s weird that we got basically no reaction from the institute side? I think there’s more to it and I have a theory based on what I think I remember from reading the second half of TMI the first time around.

Right now I’m loving Gabriel and how he came clean, along with Sophie and Gideon—so adorable!! I’m way more interested in the parts at the institute now those parts fly by while some of the Tessa parts and most of the Will parts are kind of dragging at the moment. I definitely prefer when they’re all together and interacting with each other more. And where is Magnus??? (hide spoiler)]

February 17 - 50% Sophie is my girl! I wish she talked about/used her talents more. They talk about in the first book how she has "the gift" but she never really shows what that means. Perhaps severe Book 3 foreshadowing? But also, she is super saucy and I dig that she's an outspoken parlor maid.

February 19 - 100% I have so many feelings!! (view spoiler)[ I'm totally team Will and I feel terrible for saying it but I hope that Jem dies so that Tessa doesn't have to fulfill her promise and Will doesn't feel guilty against his friend and Jem's heart doesn't break...it just stops. So evil! I don't usually feel split about the love choices of characters. I can typically commit to one and justify the other. But as Tessa says Jem is just so kind! The end of this book was perfect. I loved the epilogue. I can truly say I’ve never loved all three characters in a love triangle so much and I probably never will again. Will, Jem and Tessa are special. (hide spoiler)]
