I ..."Did you add your email address to the "approved contacts" list for your free Kindle reading application? If not, that will prevent it from showing up. Also, kindle is picky and if for some reason the version you emailed isn't in the right format (maybe you are trying to send more than the MOBI version), it will reject it and not show up on your device.

Yeah I've emailed books to my kindle in the past so I know I have it set up correctly. But I'mm thinking it's something to do with the format. I've emailed their support over at Smashwords and hopefully they can help me get the correct format email to my kindle or just my regular email.

Is there a way to search for a specific book on Elster?? There’s some great kindle ebook deals today (ravensong by t.j. Klune is only $0.99, I’m thinking of buying it for myself!! 😆) but I wish I could search for a book and see who might have it on their wishlist to gift them, instead of trying to go through everyone’s list individually. Is there anyway to do this that someone knows of?

The only thing I can think of is if you go to the "Activity" section and expand ALL the comments, which would take FOREVER, and then do a page search (Ctrl + F) and look for Ravensong, etc. I'm not sure how long it would take to expand all the activity comments on Elfster though.
Maybe Heather has some mojo since she is the organizer? Fingers crossed.

I just remember browsing through people's wishlists and now I'm seeing deals on books that I wish I could remember whose lists those books were on

Ohh, that’s good to know about Ravensong! If anyone wants to share what other great deals are out there today for CyberMonday, I’d be all ears ;)
Well darn, Heather. I had hoped (not really expecting) you to come back saying you had the power. ;D The only other thing I can think to do, and I don't say this is a good idea, simply an idea, is to create folders on the SS main page for popular authors and wishers can post which books they want there. But that would require users doing more work, and remembering to remove the book if received.
If anyone else has ideas to make searching for wishes easier, please, please share. I'd love to gift some of these amazing deals to so many great Elves who have shared so much with me.
I was just wishing that this feature existed. I see a sale, remember the item was on SOMEONE'S wishlist, but whose? And is it still there? I don't know. Sadness.
Update: I tried my idea of scrolling thru all the Activity on Elfster(didn't take as long as I thought), but it only allowed me to go back 1 month, which obviously doesn't help if someone added a book 2 months ago. :/ Or one month + 1 day. Ugh, darn you Elfster!

I’m so goofy...I finally figured out Elfster. All is well.I found my person’s wishlist and I finally filled out mine.
At first I didn’t have stuff on my wish list so i added some, but still no gift Maybe they don’t know my email or something? 🤔

Not any more nope, I used to be able to purchase via .com without any bother and receive gift cards from there or books bought there but they changed it a while ago so now it doesn't work.

You need to make sure the "sending email address" is on the list of valid addresses for your Kindle/app etc to receive books from.

Oh yeah, unfortunately, workarounds are getting harder and harder :-( I so wish Amazon could work as hard as allowing international buying/gifting as it works hard to prevent a customer to go on another site than the registered one :-)

Did you have a wishlist on your elfster profile? Were they gifted via Amazon? Otherwise, you would have no way to get a refund. :/
Shin, I believe so as I did sign up on the elfster site. They were both from Amazon. Should I talk to Amazon or what?? Merry Christmas!

If they are from Amazon you should be able to get a refund. Your elfster profile goes to your Goodreads wishlist. You should keep this list updated: https://www.goodreads.com/review/list...

You just click that and then you get an email informing you that they have credited your account. This can take from a few minutes up to a few days depending on when someone from Amazon support is going to see your request. But there's no need for you to contact anyone directly.

So for anyone who was following my Smashwords drama of not being able to get my gifted book into my Kindle I gave an up date after 2 weeks working with Kevin from Smashwords (awesome guy) the book isn’t available in mobi format which is why it was never showing up. I think he was embarrassed it took him and their tech support so long to figure it out. lol
But my wonderful elf sent me 2 great books from the Book Depository. (Great way to gift internationally if you’re okay with physical copies. Which I totally am. I LOVE physical books)

Calibre is a great book conversion tool. I'm not sure what type of kindle you have, but you could also look for an app that does support reading EPUBs There are lots of possible solutions so you can enjoy that EPUB and there are lots of Elves who can help you figure it out. :)

I use Calibre to convert all my books to mobi. SUPER easy!
I use Calibre, as well, to convert ebooks to mobi. Very easy.

Sorry to hear that :-( As all the other elves said, it's very easy to convert an ebook in a format you can download on your kindle : either using Calibre or, 'if you don't have it, there are a lot of sites to make the conversion.
