Eric | 57 comments Guy Davenport has e s s a y e d and f i c t i o n e d thoroughly, but not been read in like manner. Please take a look at his work, any and all, and begin--wherever, for there is not a sour volume among them.

He has also written poetry: Thasos and Ohio; Flowers and Leaves.

He is, for my money, the most variously talented of the last century, to ply either pencil, pen, or brush: profusely polyglot--extraordinarily carnal--he did write, on top of all this, Oxford's first accepted thesis on Joyce; was an impressive scholar of the Wake, of Pound, Olson, and Zukofsky. Well, and Whitman and Poe and . . .
