I got two kittens! They were named Lana and Lizzie, but I changed Lana to Luna, so now they are named after Luna Lovegood and Elizabeth Bennet. I kind of wanted to change Lizzie to Lily, but I like the ring of Luna and Lizzie better.

Sorry, I didn't see your comment until now, I don't check this discussion very much. Finished it today, it was AMAZING!!! Such a powerful story. I agree with you about the narrator of the audiobook - he did a fantastic job. Although I didn't like how there was music at the beginning and end, I mean, I appreciate the fact that it was an accordion but I found it sort of annoying ... lol.

These Violent Delights (Robin) | 1236 comments Mod
@daisy, they always play music at the beginning and ending of every book.. annoying yes but ya learn to live lol!

I'm so glad you loved it, and I knew you'd like the narrator!

Not in the Harry Potter audiobooks! (read by Stephen Fry) Those are brilliant. People say he reads to slow but I think it was perfect! That's got to be my favourite audiobook of all time.

Hey guys. Wasn't exactly sure where to put this, but here is fine enough.

Are any of you attending Apollycon this year?

There are many authors attending, including; Jeaniene Frost, Sarah J Maas, Sophie Jordan, Kristi Cook, KatieMcGarry, Laura Kaye, Wendy Higgins, Susan Dennard, Tiffany King, Amalie Howard, Cora Carmack, Rachel Hollis, Rachel Harris, Megan Erickson, Jen McLaughlin, Mary Ting & M Clarke, Chelsea M Cameron, Page Morgan, Mary Lindsey & Marissa Clarke, Alexandra Bracken, Tessa Bailey, Katee Roberts, & Jennifer L Armentrout!

So many awesome authors, all signing their books.

Unfortunately I'm not going to be able to make it.

If you're like me and can't make it but still want personalized signed copies from any of these authors, go to http://apollycon.blogspot.com/p/book-...

You have until the 1st of February to order a signed copy.

I placed an order of Wicked (A Wicked Saga, #1) by Jennifer L. Armentrout In The Afterlight (The Darkest Minds, #3) by Alexandra Bracken Throne of Glass (Throne of Glass, #1) by Sarah J. Maas Magnolia by Kristi Cook Once Burned (Night Prince, #1) by Jeaniene Frost Twice Tempted (Night Prince, #2) by Jeaniene Frost Bound by Flames (Night Prince, #3) by Jeaniene Frost Unleashed (Uninvited, #2) by Sophie Jordan

Has anyone ever started a series and LOVED the first book but then tried to read the sequel and just..couldn't? Maybe because it just wasn't as good or maybe there was something personal that you just couldn't do it? That's how it is with Mara Dyer. I can't read the second book because of someone I know being in the mental hospital and it's just too much..

Not really... I have read an entire trilogy even though I wasn't a fan of the first book, and unfortunately nothing got better. But I know there's a few people who have recently been saying that they've loved first-in-series, and then hated or strongly disliked the rest.

message 112: by Hannah (new)

Hannah (HannahJoLynn) | 8 comments I actually did that with The Maze Runner. I loved the first book, but then with The Scorch Trials, I just could not get into it. I didn't like it, I couldn't get interested, and I didn't even get halfway through it. I know a lot of people loved them, but it was too boring for me.

message 113: by Eve (new)

Eve (arweneve) Hey guys! I'm working on this short THG fanfic, please share your thoughts!! (If there is a topic for this sort of thing, I must have missed it.) this takes place before the rule of President Snow. Karkarov is the current ruler.

Stooping to pick up her knife, Alia quickened her pace, not daring to glance back at the tidal wave of scarlet liquid flowing at break-neck speed behind her.
A sick feeling in her stomach told her the substance was not cherry cordial.
Bracing herself against the rough vines that were scraping her arms and face, Alia plunged farther into the jungle.

1 HOUR LATER

Alia couldn't stop running. Her legs felt like pudding and she wobbled now, in danger of tipping over and being swallowed by the raging river of blood.

Alia's foot connected with something fleshy on the forest floor and she gazed with horror upon the mangled form of a boy.
Even with its deranged face, she would have recognized him anywhere.
"Dean..." She said, her heart in her mouth. She felt like crying, but she was too dry to cry.
She licked her parched lips, her saliva dribbling out the corner of her mouth. She forgot about the arena. The blood river now less than 50 feet behind her.

Looking towards the artificial sky Alia started yelling horsely.
"Is this what you really want, Karkarov? Your citizens dying left and right in this, this...DANG arena? The people of Panem notice you know. They aren't just going to sit and watch, I know them. I know them far better than you ever will. I am one of them. I will not stand for this, this! All this!" Alia pointed at Dean's rubbed raw body. She wore a face so challenging, everyone watching was alarmed. Alia lifted her chin defiantly.
"I will live."

W. Myers | 7 comments Here's an introspective question: With all the garbage that goes on in this world and everyday life, why then do people read stories filled with the same struggle? In my goof-off time I try to get as far away from the "vs. evil", "vs. Self" or just the "verses" in general that I can.

It seems exceedingly rare to find engaging but clean entertainment for those aged YA and beyond. The last book that got me really engrossed as much as classics like Alice in Wonderland and A Wrinkle in Time were the WondLa books - not really for my age group, but who cares? Am I alone?

Hey, I was thinking of creating a blog designer directory on here so that new bloggers and designers had an easier way of contacting one another.

If you're interested, let me know, or reply to this with your name, your design shop's name, your contact information, and any prices.

If you're even able to help others with simple HTML, I'll add you to the directory.

Really like your fanfiction. That's some pretty graphic stuff!
@W if we read about the struggles between the self and evil or the self and the self perhaps it is because it is a safe way to explore these themes.

With Love and Gratitude,

I am hosting a summer-long series challenge—June 1, to August 31. Basically, the goal is to read as many books in series as you want. Here is the link to join and get better information: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
If there is a better place to post, please tell me as I couldn't find one. I hope some of you will join and I look forward to making new friends here!

I have no idea. We have an author's section. Maybe posting this in there could help even more.

But most of the books I read are usually longer. I'm thinking that once you change the formatting, it'll be longer than that, but I wouldn't think there is a solid answer for this question.

Tucker, Rachel Vincent, Kami Garcia, Suzanne Young, Wendy Higgins, Sophie Jordan, and of course Jennifer L Armentrout (there's more authors by the way!) but you can't actually attend the event?

Pretty good! I'm also on spring break, but that's because I decided not to work at one of the schools still in session this week. I have to work at my second job Thursday through Saturday, but that's all cash, so it will be nice.

How have you been? Done anything fun lately?

I can't stand that my Hunger Games didn't match the rest of the DVD/Blue Ray packaging because Target didn't do a special edition of the first movie. At least now I have something to keep them all in that matches.

It was only $35 for all four movies, which is way less than I spent on the other ones.

I owned the first three movies already but I soooo wanted the box set when it came out.. I ended up giving my parents the first three movies and bought them Mockingjay pt 2 and then bought the box set for myself. Totally worth it.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think you can do it on mobile devices. On a computer, see the "add book/author" button on top of the comment box? Click that, search and find what you're looking for, then add it. Make sure that at the bottom of the popup window it has "cover" selected not "link".

Hope that helps!
