Wrapping up Popsugar
If this were during the actual toppler, I would say no, Debra. But since this isn’t for a badge, just finishing up the tasks, I think we can stretch it if you’d like.
I’ll see what I see first at the bookstore. I’ll head straight toward the horror section while unseeing (City & the City term) the displays on the way. :-)
Kristie wrote: "I’ve seen people reading a few books in public too, Casceil, but nothing I want to read at the moment. I’m keeping my eyes peeled though."I was looking at pictures online of strangers reading books. You know...being creative. Anywho, I didn’t find anything I wanted to read that way and since I don’t have Facebook pursuing that is not an option.
I'll take 2018 - Advanced - A book that was being read by a stranger in a public place and read A Higher Loyalty: Truth, Lies, and Leadership. This definitely isn't a book I would seek out, but we'll see how this goes.

I finished As Bright as Heaven for 2017 - A book recommended by a librarian. 4 stars. It's recommended by Cathy Branciforte, librarian at the Ramsey Free Public Library in Ramsey NJ.

Well, I didn't make it to the bookstore as planned. Life intervened! Maybe this weekend. Good plan, eh, Annerlee? lol
Well, I finished my last task. And all the rest are taken. What do we do now? Should I keep checking back to see if someone is unable to finish reading for their task?
Lanelle wrote: "Well, I finished my last task. And all the rest are taken. What do we do now? Should I keep checking back to see if someone is unable to finish reading for their task?"That'd be great. Also, if you can make it to a bookstore, I wouldn't mind giving up 2016 The first book you see in a bookstore.
Anyone else have tasks they'd want to give to Lanelle?
I’ve been slow with my reading and I haven’t started mine yet. Its name in title. You’re welcome to it, if you want it.
Kristie wrote: "I’ve been slow with my reading and I haven’t started mine yet. Its name in title. You’re welcome to it, if you want it."That's very generous of you, Kristie. Thank you. I'll be back with the title of my book.
I'm willing to give up any or all of the following. I'm a bit overextended.2017 - A book you’ve read before that never fails to make you smile
2017 - A book set around a holiday other than Christmas
2018 - A book about mental health
And the 2016 bookstore one...
Just for grins I rode along with Debra yesterday to Barnes and Noble on HER mission to fill the task "The first book you see in a bookstore" On display as you walk in was the October 2018 release of Brief Answers to the Big Questions by Stephen Hawking.I agreed to take the task IF I could find it on audio through MCLS (Midwest Collaborative for Library Services). I've already reached my limit on Hoopla for this month, and since it was such a new release I didn't think I would find it. IT WAS THERE!
SNEAKY STRATEGY DEBRA!
I started the book yesterday and finished it today. Gave it five stars. If you are inclined to read it, I recommend the audio. Between chapters of narration there are actual recorded snippets in Stephen's own electronic voice. Pretty amazing stuff.
Amazing mind. Amazing man.

Debra, I'll take 'a book you've read before that never fails to make you smile'. I'll read Playing James. This book never fails to make me laugh out loud, much less smile!

Yes, it is really far fetched. I am having a hard time digesting it.
Laura (Lclwags) wrote: "I finished How to Be a Bawse: A Guide to Conquering Life for 2016 A book written by a celebrity."That's wonderful!!
Jannene wrote: "I reported on the other thread yesterday. I finished my book."You and Lanelle had posted. Sorry I missed that! Awesome job, ladies!
Debra: Are you still interested in giving away 2017 - A book set around a holiday other than Christmas? If so, I think I have a book for it.
I finished the 2017 - A book you’ve read before that never fails to make you smile. Thank you, Debra, for the excuse to re-read a fun story.I'm willing to take 2018 - A book about mental health, but I have to admit that I'm not quite sure what a book about mental health is supposed to be. Any ideas? I'd rather read a book about being happy and cheerful than a book about depression.
Edited to add: How about Pollyanna? She's always trying to show everyone how to play the 'Glad Game'.
She doesn't have a mental health issue though, Lanelle. I would think of something like The Bell Jar or My Lovely Wife in the Psych Ward. There are a bunch of lists that have to do with mental illness. Maybe you could find something on one of them.

Thanks for the clarification, Kristie. I'm glad I asked. Mental health means something different to me than a mental health issue. I have a book about a teenage girl suffering from Rape Related Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. I think that will work.
Debra, I'm going to read Almost by Anne Eliot for 2018 - a book about mental health.
Jannene wrote: "No problem. I just wanted you to know that we were further than you thought. :)"Yep! A nice surprise!
Casceil wrote: "Debra: Are you still interested in giving away 2017 - A book set around a holiday other than Christmas? If so, I think I have a book for it."Yes, that would be great, Casceil. Thanks!
Lanelle wrote: "Debra, I'm going to read Almost by Anne Eliot for 2018 - a book about mental health. "Thanks, Lanelle!
Debra, I finished reading my book for the 2018 - a book about mental health. I'll keep lurking to see if another task comes available.
Lanelle wrote: "Debra, I finished reading my book for the 2018 - a book about mental health. I'll keep lurking to see if another task comes available."Good plan. There are a few folks we've not heard from in a while, so we'll see how that goes. Thanks for all your help!

Actually, Lanelle, I forgot and thought the task was mental illness not mental health, which why I suggested she didn't have a mental health issue. I think mental health is broader. Glad you were able to find one that fit anyway.
I finished Witches' Bane for 2017 - A book set around a holiday other than Christmas. It's a Halloween murder mystery.

I'm hoping Kristie will say this will fit for 2016 - The first book you see in a bookstore. It was the only book advertised in the email I received and just happens to be something I'd like to read for Halloween. Kristie?
