Awesome! Yes!

Be sure to report it in the reporting thread.

Debra (debra_t) | 6542 comments Looks like we have 13 pretty tough tasks to fill. I know Almeta can fill most (all?) and probably Lanelle. Anyone else want to grab some more?

message 105: by Casceil (new)

Casceil | 2728 comments I'll take 2017, a book with an unreliable narrator. My plan is to read Tangerine. Oh, and I finished Steampunk Darcy. It was interesting. I think the author tried to do a bit too much, between combining future world-building, romance conventions, and references to Pride and Prejudice. But I did like the idea of Wickham being an automaton.

Debra (debra_t) | 6542 comments I'm planning on going to the bookstore this week and will see what I see first there for: 2016 The first book you see in a bookstore.

message 121: by Debra (last edited Oct 23, 2018 12:27PM) (new)

Debra (debra_t) | 6542 comments First come, first serve for the remaining 7 tasks:

2016 - A satirical book
2017 - A book recommended by a librarian
2017 - A book you've read before that never fails to make you smile
2017 - A book with career advice
2018 - A book mentioned in another book
2018 - Advanced - A cyberpunk book
2018 - Advanced - A book that was being read by a stranger in a public place

message 122: by Roz (new)

Roz | 4529 comments The task, 2017 - A book recommended by a librarian, confused me. Does that have to be a librarian that directly recommended a book to me or just any librarian, in any library?

I'd like to read As Bright as Heaven. According to bookbub.com, it's recommended by Cathy Branciforte, librarian at the Ramsey Free Public Library in Ramsey NJ.

Debra (debra_t) | 6542 comments I'll be rereading The Kill Society for 2017 - A book you’ve read before that never fails to make you smile. This is from a series I really have enjoyed; humorous, dark, suspenseful, intriguing. Highly recommended.

I finished The City & the City for 2017 - Bonus level - A book from a genre/subgenre that you’ve never heard of (Speculative Fiction). It was unbelievably amazing and so unique. I loved it!

message 128: by Debra (new)

Debra (debra_t) | 6542 comments Still looking for takers for the following:

2016 - A satirical book
2017 - A book with career advice
2018 - A book mentioned in another book
2018 - Advanced - A cyberpunk book
2018 - Advanced - A book that was being read by a stranger in a public place

Debra (debra_t) | 6542 comments If anyone is interested in a good cyberpunk book, you could try Ready Player One. It was pretty good.

message 130: by Debra (new)

Debra (debra_t) | 6542 comments I might be able to do 2016 - A satirical book. It would a reread of Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch. I've been meaning to read it again and have the audiobook. So.... anyone else?
