James Dweck | 15 comments Hi, y'all! I think I'm supposed to put updates here if I'm updating on Goodreads - please let me know if that's incorrect.

This is my first time participating in Dewey's 24-Hour Readathon and I'm so excited! I have a bit of a bad track record when it comes to not being unexpectedly busy during readathons, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed for this one. :)

I'm not sure what else I'm supposed to put here - I would really appreciate tips and feedback.

I'm so excited to meet some cool humans and start becoming a more active part of this community!

- James (he/him/his)

Welcome to Dewey's, James! It's so much fun! Yes, this is the right place for Goodreads updates. Do you have a reading list prepared yet? Or are you a mood reader? I'm only reading Stephen King in October (2nd year doing this) so The Dark Tower series is on my list. I'm on The Waste Lands. It's also good to prepare snacks so you don't interrupt reading time too much!

James Dweck | 15 comments Thanks for the tips! I've read the first Dark Tower book and I'm excited to continue soon. :)

I have a tentative reading list:

Kith by Divya Victor

That Winter the Wolf Came by Juliana Spahr

While Mortals Sleep by Kurt Vonnegut

The Fall of Gondolin by J. R. R. Tolkien

Vicious by V. E. Schwab (already started on audio)

Good list! I have to get back into reading Tolkien books. I think I'll re-read LotR via audio. I struggled through reading them when I was younger. I'm hoping to read Vicious and Vengeful next year! I loved the Shades of Magic trilogy!

James Dweck | 15 comments The audio re-read sounds like a good plan - I've been wanting to do that as well! I'm so glad you loved Shades of Magic - I've been thinking about picking that up. Vicious is pretty dang good so far - it's a pretty fascinating concept.

Have you seen the LotR movies? Which was your favorite? Mine is either TTT or ROTK - I can't choose. :)

I started Shades of Magic on audio and didn't like the narrator. He ruined the first book for me. I read the second book and loved it so I went back and physically read the first book. Loved it. So glad I gave it a second chance!

I have seen the trilogy. Multiple times. Two Towers is my favorite book but Return of the King is my favorite movie. I really enjoyed the Hobbit trilogy as well.

James Dweck | 15 comments Updating a bit late, but about a half hour ago, I finished the last 44 minutes of the Vicious audio book.

Vicious (Villains, #1) by V.E. Schwab

I definitely screamed "HELL NO" a couple of times. Awesome read.

I took a break to write a little something for my boyfriend (our anniversary is tomorrow!!!!), and am now about to settle down to read The Fall of Gondolin.

The Fall of Gondolin by J.R.R. Tolkien

Happy reading!

James Dweck | 15 comments It is now hour 11, and since I'm not sure how much reading I'm going to do for the rest of the day, I'm going to do a quick update now.

During the time between the last update and this one, I managed to get to page 203 of The Fall of Gondolin.

The Fall of Gondolin by J.R.R. Tolkien

I also read a couple of stories totaling 50 pages in Mystery Midrash, an anthology of Jewish mystery stories which I've been dipping in and out of for the past couple of weeks. I highly recommend it for a good dose of nostalgia. :)

Mystery Midrash An Anthology of Jewish Mystery & Detective Fiction by Lawrence W. Raphael

So far, including the pages of Vicious that I listened to earlier, I've read 364 pages today! Yahoo!

Happy reading!

Vicious is a great one! I'm planning to reread it soon and then read Vengeful. Sounds like your readathon is going great!
