New/Used/Library books?

I have a "rule" with myself where I can't get library books or buy new books because I spent so many years obtaining new or used books and now have a massive collection of almost 500 books that I'm trying to work my way through and then give away. When I moved house I went through and got rid of a load, but there are still so many.
Sometimes I have bought books on my Kindle in a moment of weakness because they were so cheap! Oops.

I am currently in the opposite situation - I finally have a little bookshelf corner in my home and I can finally fill it up with books!

I am envious - have fun filling up your bookshelf!

thank you!

I typically get books through library for both financial reasons and trying to be more minimalist. I also want to keep libraries in my community actively buying books remembering my parents could not afford to buy new books for me very often and I relied heavily on school and public libraries.
I do buy some new books and used books. After reading, I either give them to someone I know will enjoy the book or donate them to my library for one of their book sales which generates money for more books and programs.

Personally, I use all three. My first go to is usually the library, then if they don't have it I'll have a look at buying it new (usually online) but I also enjoy looking for hidden gems in book stalls at the market near me :) and that's when usually I would also buy a really good book that I enjoyed that I would have read from the Library or maybe just have on my Kindle.
