Rachel Adiyah | 21 comments I am searching for a Science-Fiction dystopian novel from the 1970's about a man who is released from prison and goes back to discover that society is insane. The government is a pro-Environmental authoritarian society that forbids human beings from making any noise, so no one speaks verbally and all communication is through sign language. People are forbidden to farm or use any part of nature for sustenance and barely survive on food pills. In fact, the regime in power has decided to return the Earth to nature and has the mass suicide of the human race scheduled for about three weeks in the future, where everyone takes a poison pill and just dies. I always thought that the title was something like, "Over the Bridge" or "Over the Green Bridge", but I've checked and there's nothing under those specific titles.

Could please someone help me find this book?
Thanks!
