Chapter 5 Discussion

Peter finds cigarette butts....do you think it’s a perpetrator or possibly Rosemary? This chapter bounces back and forth between the book Peter is writing and the continuance of Rosemary working in the library and curiosity of one another. There is a small dispute between Peter and Rosemary as she is asking questions and he is preoccupied with the direction of his manuscript. He is very private about his work and doesn’t explain where his mind was, but he does feel convicted and apologizes for being distracted and not listening. Rosemary stays focused on maintaining the job she was set to do. While nothing outright declares it, I think she is starting to see the good qualities and decency of character Peter displays, even if she was put off by his inattentiveness when she was trying to talk to him. I’m finding myself interested in the intricacies of this cat and mouse game as their curiosity of one another piques. What are your thoughts?
