But "new to me" used books I buy all the time. I trade in my old books and try to buy on the bargain shelves. My TBR pile has grown to the point that it is going to take over my whole house someday.

Tell me about it lol

But I'm soooo glad that Goodreads removed that Browse/Deals feature!
When I see a book deal on something I want to read at Amazon, it's so easy to tell myself, "Oh, it's only $1.99 or $2.99 or however it costs."
But it really adds up!
Haha, this is like a Bookaholics Anonymous meeting.

I purchase ebooks, again if it is not available at my library and I can't find a cheaper used copy.
Comic books are a different story. I have to own every graphic novel I read. Not sure where that comes from; continuing my husband's collection I guess. I buy 5 or 6 every other month or so. And they make up my Amazon wishlist so people buy them for me for Christmas and my birthday.

I'll get some ebooks here and there if Kindle has them for $2.99 or less. It just depends on how long the waiting list is at the library, or how cheap the book is, or maybe how much I think I'm going to like it.
I get more than half of the books I read at the library. I tend to read more of the library books than the ones I buy which is kind of a problem. I need to read what I have. I think all of the books left on my list this year I have a physical copy of so at least those will get read.

I’m a big library user! Fortunately I’ve only ever lived within a mile or two from a library so it’s easy.
I do buy Kindle books when they are $1.99 and below but again it’s when none of the libraries around me has that book. So maybe 10 Kindle books in a year? Not many.

Also, I'm a compulsive and greedy book hoarder.
But I'm considering getting a library pass again to get it under controll.

I used to buy books when I first lived on my own, but than started having a family and only got books from the library. Now that kids are older and finances are better. I have bought several. However I get them from this one bookstore that offers good deals so my two trips were pretty affordable. We could fill a bag for $20. So I only paid about 50 cents a book.

But that being said, I do buy books fairly regularly. I have a hard time going into the bookstore on my university campus without walking out of there with a new book in my bag. Luckily I have less frequent visits there now that I've only got a thesis left to write.
I also buy a lot of coffee table books, or books relating to graphic design and such. Also, I have a couple of boxes of illustrated children's books, because I started collecting them for a while. I don't have kids...

Other than that, I try to use the library as often as possible. If there is a new book I REALLY want, or it's a book I want on my shelf to keep, then I will spend the money. I also try to go buy used first, we have a couple of good stores nearby for that :)

I'm listening to audiobooks on Storytel. But if I really like a book, I can buy it later, just to have it in my bookshelf.

i probably have 10 or 12 new unread books at the moment and will try and read most of these before my next visit to the bookshop.
I always think its a good thing to donate read books to a charity shop and as the are fairly new publications the tend to be well received. Last year I bought the first 8 C.J.Box Joe Pickett series all brand new and all 50p each. great bargain! I am enjoying Joe Pickett although they don't tend to stock these in British bookshops and so the next few will have to be Amazon buys.

I tend to buy a few books (maybe 2 to 3) a month? I have a pretty extensive list of books TBR so i'm trying to cut down on the buying and finish up everything I have accumulated before it gets out of hand and spirals out of control!
I get them from loads of places like book sales, garage sales, online etc. I have problems reading e-books online or on a kindle, (it really strains my eyes and causes me headaches at times) and I think there's something really comforting about holding a physical book in your hands, flipping through the pages and smelling paper and ink that can't really be replicated otherwise.
I always see books as an investment - like you're buying knowledge in a way and i'd hopefully like to have the chance to pass down my collection to my children in the future so that they'd have something to enjoy and to remember me by once i'm gone.

Nicole.. That's exactly me!!

Alright! Yay, so i'm not the only one with such strange hoarding tendencies! (:
I've given it some thought before, and perhaps it's because I knew that all the books that I was reading were never really mine - I'd have to return them all to the library after reading them all, so eventually when I was lucky enough (like I am now) to afford buying books, I really don't want to give them up at all!

If you red using a kindle or similar you can get so many free books you can fulfil the hoarding instinct! I do!

I'm also planning on buying some more books as well. Last year I read the first book in the Legacy trilogy and so this year I'm going to continue the series and buy the second book, Allegiance. I'm also planning on buying the third book in the Caraval series, Finale (I got the second book, Legendary from the library). And of course I'm probably going to get the rest of the books in the Red Queen and Selection series!
Sooooo.... yeah😊.
