Not an October 2018 Exchange...
No need to apologize, Rift. I appreciate all you've done for this group. Not sure how long you've been organizing every month, but you were here when I first joined 5ish years ago. You are amazing!!! Hope your October is full of rest, reading, and peaceful moments in nature :)

Why not do a repeat month using the same lists you gave us for September, and make the subject something about Autumn, Haunting, Horror or Halloween? This way you get to rest and we still have an exchange? Win - Win!What does everyone think about that?
Maybe make this a new thing moving forward so you can save your sanity and have more quality time with your life? Just create a new list ever other month so its more manageable for you and we send cards using that for the two months? Perhaps give the annual list of topics ahead of time as well? Let the group do some self-managing?

Hi Rift- No worries! You do you! It’s ok to take a break and take care of the other things that need to get done in life or should I say the things that you’d like to get done. You deserve a vacation or at least a weekend away! I think you’ve done a great job running this group. I personally have a very hard time balancing work and “me time”. This is one of the few things I manage to fit in because it’s fun, easy and there aren’t many demands. It should be the same for you. I know it’s not because you run things but it should be at least as much fun as it is work. Please take all the time you need!!!Thanks again for your dedication!

I've only been here one month and I can see how much work running this must be. Your group inspired me in several ways, one of which is to do one for fans of a podcast that I listen to.
Not fully knowing the details of what you do, it's clear that it's a lot. I approached someone else and their idea was to use Google Forms to gather the addresses. It seems very simple (from my naive POV!), and I wonder if it's something that could help you in the future.
If you're open to it, what do you think of Lorraine's idea?

Rift, no apologies needed! You have been amazing with what you have taken on as a single moderator with a growing group! Your having to send out messages to each person individually, in batches each day, takes a ton of time!. And then you send everyone your own postcards, which are so beautiful and thoughtful and appreciated!!!!You deserve a break!
Another possible idea if everyone is keen to send postcards every month but we want to reduce work for you, is that for every other month, the list sent out in previous month just reverses order, and we send to the person ABOVE us in the list instead. I think we did that a few months back, and it seemed to work well? Tia Marie's idea I think?
Oct = reverse September (send to name above)
Nov = new list (send to name below)
Dec = reverse November (send to name above)
Jan = new list (send to name below)
Feb = reverse Jan (send to name above)
And perhaps you could maybe take on a helper-bee co-moderator for those 'every other reverse order months' so you don't even need to look at the threads/comments for that month, so you truly get a break and don't even need to think about it! :)

I'm also new to the group and so excited about it. What a lovely idea to do a postcard exchange; I have a small collection that I use as bookmarks right now and would love more variety. I'm going to pick up a few local postcards tomorrow and I'll send one out to you by Wednesday.

... Added on 3 Oct ...
Okay, well that was abrupt. I just didn't want to keep everyone guessing about the Oct exchange, but I didn't know how to start the conversation.
Here's the deal. My day job has gotten pretty sour, and I suddenly realized that I couldn't take a spontaneous weekend getaway because of the day to day activities here. Just the basics of running the postcard exchange isn't more than an hour a day, usually, tho over the weekend I catch up with odds and ends here and I'm not sure how many hours I spend.
And of course I want to do more than "just the basics". This project is the love of my life!
But I want to do other things, too, that I just don't have time for... a vacation is the least of it! I'd like to do some drawing, blogging my photography, piano practice, heck, even my book reviews here haven't been updated in over a year!
Things here at the group need to change, I just don't know how! So, we will keep going with the same postcard exchange... just every other month, instead of every month. So GR PC Nov and GR PC Jan are on. And maybe some experimenting with other formats for sending postcards, after that. It's going to be very different from what it was, and for that I am sad, because we have had such a great run! But maybe we will find a new and improved way of the postcard?
