Valerie_rubio "The Memory Keepers Daughter" is a wonderful book that many can relate to in on way or another. The main conflict is David giving away his daughter because of down syndrome and how the secret tears their family apart.
The writing is absolutely gorgeous. The author's way with words is really something to marvel and you feel as if your really there in the same room; that combined with the raw emotions really hits you. The depth and care put into making the characters three dimensional was astounding. Everything the characters did had a reason, and they all had complex feelings and backgrounds.
The book also dealt with sensitive topics for many such as, the passage of time, drugs, handicaps, postpartum depression and many more. The broad range of topics allows any reader to relate in some way or another.
One of my favorite quotes that really encapsulates the book would be, "He'd kept this silence because his own secrets were darker, more hidden, and because he believed that his secrets had created hers."
I would recommend this book and give it a 5/5.

Hobbitual Reader I have read this book but my experience was a bit different. I felt the pace of the book was really slow and it didn't keep me hooked to itself. Also, some instances and characters didn't do justice in bringing an interesting turn.

Though yes, the writing in terms of describing the feelings and scenarios was great.

Arnestiondark I liked the book, although it seemed a little drawn out.

Maria Lewis It's incredible how strongly previous generations influence our lives. It becomes already scary that perhaps we cannot change anything. But after reading this book, I calmed down a bit. I liked it; I even wrote a short essay on this topic for a college assignment. This site https://edubirdie.com/assignment-writing-service helped me a lot with work. There are many things to help students. I also realized that you need to lead a correct lifestyle because all this can affect the future generation.

Larry Andersson In "The Memory Keeper's Daughter," the gripping narrative unfolds with a life-altering decision made by a doctor who, in a moment of crisis, separates twins at birth due to perceived medical issues. The emotional aftermath reverberates throughout the lives of each character, delving into the complexities of secrets, choices, and the far-reaching consequences that shape their interconnected destinies. The book's exploration of human emotions, identity, and the impact of a single choice makes for a deeply thought-provoking and emotionally charged read that captivates readers with its intricate web of relationships and moral dilemmas. Inca I read this a while ago. I will copy my review here because it speaks to this discussion:

My 4-star rating is a bit complicated on this one.

The premise is fantastic: We are not only as sick as our secrets, but those secrets can destroy everyone and everything we love.

The writing is masterful; Kim Edwards knows how to put her words together beautifully.

A lot of her analysis and descriptions of the feelings and mindsets of different characters was spot on, in my opinion.

So much for the pluses.

Albeit the writing is beautiful, it did go on for too long. I think this book could have been edited to shorten it quite a bit without losing any of its essence....and no matter how beautiful the words and sentences are, that is not a good thing. Because at a certain point it gets frustrating. The balance between clearly letting us understand/feel and between moving things along is off kilter.

I was debating between a 3 and 4. I went with the 4 because the book did have an impact on me and there are things I will remember...or hope to.
