Soo (silverlyn) | 1007 comments I paused on the book too. I'm trying to wrap up Kate Daniel's series and reading other stuff that's easy to intake via audio. I'll take a day to read S in a few days. =)

Timelord Iain I bit the bullet and bought another copy... it should arrive today (if not, it probably won't show up until after New Year's)... once it arrives I'll try and catch up...

I just haven't had a very good month... between losing this book, getting sick visiting friends (and their dozen kids) for Christmas, and returning to work yesterday while sick, I managed to forget my Kindle at work (which I mostly use as a paperweight)... luckily it turned up just before I went home this morning, but I can't decide if someone "just found it", or they decided not to steal it because I'd already deregistered it from my Amazon account (just in case someone stole it and started charging ebooks to my account)...

The funny thing, is I'd just been thinking I needed to be more vigilant, if I was going to bring my new copy of this book to work... but being sick had me a bit out of sorts yesterday...

Soo (silverlyn) | 1007 comments Can you wear a shoulder bag or something like that while you work? Basically, my thought is that you can have a messenger bag or small backpack that you can use to keep your Kindle or Book. Make the habit of putting either into the bag and when you're done.

Just an idea. Glad you're going to rejoin us and sorry to hear you got sick. Sometimes it's good to take a break though. You could totally catch up on movies/shows. =)

I'm usually religious about making sure I have my Kindle... I've been bringing it to work with me since my Kindle 3, five years ago... the Paperwhite is better, since it fits in my back pocket easier... generally, I keep it on my forklift as a paperweight, carry it around in my back pocket on breaks, and stick it in my supply bag before I leave... but it's the last thing I put in my supply bag, because I don't want it in my supply bag while I'm still driving a forklift, in case the bag falls off... I keep the supply bag near my work area during my shift, and only put it on my forklift for the first and last couple minutes of my shift... weird confluence of events... and the fact I don't use my Kindle or read Ship of Theseus at home much are what led to not noticing they were missing for 12hrs / 3 days...

Soo (silverlyn) | 1007 comments I got all distracted by starting 2019 challenges and reading new stuff. I'll make time to read S on Thursday & make a post + comments. =D

Soo (silverlyn) | 1007 comments If I am snowed in tomorrow, I plan to make some quality time with our book. =)

That was a few hours ago. It's suppose to be more by morning. I shall see!

Timelord Iain We got like a foot of snow in Illunois... driving to work was fun... only 5 miles...

Soo (silverlyn) | 1007 comments Should be okay there though right? Minus the potholes.

Mareike | 1457 comments I will only get back to this book next weekend when I can pick it up at my parents'. (I was traveling over New Year's and taking this book on two flights and a ship seemed too dangerous, I didn't wanna risk losing any of the inserts.) Once I'm back at it, I'll post updates again.

Soo (silverlyn) | 1007 comments =)

No worries! I've been on a random book rampage of my own and haven't had time to read this. I'll also make time for it this weekend.

message 111: by Timelord Iain (new)

Timelord Iain I restarted the book last night, with my new copy... re-read the opening parts... reading differently this time... reading the text of the chapter, then going back and reading the margins after... we'll see if I stick with that once I catch back up to chapter 3...

Soo (silverlyn) | 1007 comments I haven't had the time to just sit and read for a while. Life is getting busy again. Most of my reading is done on the go as I do other stuff.

I am going to start over in March/April.

Feel free to finish without me and I'll come back to click all the spoilers then.

message 113: by Timelord Iain (new)

Timelord Iain I mean... I've been having similar problems... I WANT to read this... the concept is interesting... it's making time for a physical book that's the problem...

What little time I have for non-audio, gets pulled in so many different directions... reading Graeme's Metaframe War books right now, with Laura, since I've been putting it off for a couple years, with my all audio, all the time, schedule...

Soo (silverlyn) | 1007 comments You can start back up with me in April. =)

I think if we work at it and make the time, we can knock it out in May.

message 115: by Mareike (new) - added it

Mareike | 1457 comments I'd be up for starting back up in late April/May.
I read parts of the second interlude yesterday, but I don't think I'll be able to finish this before I'm traveling for work from February onwards and I don't want to take it along. (Because it's heavy and because I'm too worried about losing any of the inserts.)

Definitely a worry... I worry about that, just reading at work...

Mareike | 1457 comments Just wanted to check in. Do we still want to continue with this? I'd like to, but I'm also a bit busy right now. What about you guys?

message 121: by Dawn F (new) - added it

Dawn F (psychedk) | 1223 comments I did mean to read it eventually, but May is my most booked month with lots of activities so I won't have time or patience to sit down with a huge physical book :-/

message 122: by Mareike (new) - added it

Mareike | 1457 comments We could always push it back further than that if the others don't mind.
