Melanie | 1911 comments Book 5
Ten Thousand Skies Above You (Firebird, #2) by Claudia Gray

I had started this series but didn’t continue it. It does have great world-building, but I’m not crazy about the main character and I am just over love triangles. It was just an okay read for me, but I imagine others would like it it more.

Kdbrand | 353 comments Finished Book 5 Uprooted by Naomi Novik . It's been on my TBR list since last December. Well-written and interesting fantasy, but didn't hold my attention all the way through. 3 stars.

Her next book, Spinning Silver by Naomi Novik , is amazing!!

Jennifer | 456 comments So I can't count this one Now I Rise (The Conqueror's Saga #2) by Kiersten White because I read book 1 And I Darken (The Conqueror's Saga #1) by Kiersten White for this challenge, lol. However, Book 2 of this trilogy was so good, and I cannot wait to get book 3. Lada as a main character is not my favorite, but her brother Radu! Oh, how I love him.

laurel [the suspected bibliophile] (laurelthereader) Book 5 is done!

Labyrinth Lost (Brooklyn Brujas, #1) by Zoraida Córdova (TBR)

4 stars. I loved the bisexual rep and the latinx representation, and the mythology of Los Lagos and the brujas and brujos. The MC, Alex, was a little much at times (and definitely deserved being called out for being whiney and spoiled), but overall it was a lot of fun and a really quick read.

Thanks, Jennifer! I've heard good things about Spinning Silver. Hope to read it in 2019.

I finished with Time After Time by Wendy Godding which good if not a bit confusing and Uglies (Uglies, #1) by Scott Westerfeld it bored me a bit so I would probably peruse the following books.

Melanie | 1911 comments challenge completed ... early for a change!

book 6
Girl in the Blue Coat by Monica Hesse

This is historical fiction which is not a favored genre of mine. It was on my TBR because it came highly recommended by my school's librarian. I was avoiding it because I wasn't in the mood for a depressing holocaust tale. I should have read it sooner because I loved it.

It had great characters and a great mystery that unfolded in delightful pieces. There was a part of the book where I thought the book would end, but I still had 20% left to read. What came after was surprising and delightful and sad in a way too. I definitely recommend it.

laurel [the suspected bibliophile] (laurelthereader) Completed book 6! Earlier than I expected!

The Queen of Ieflaria (Tales of Inthya, #1) by Effie Calvin (TBR/owned)(adult/NA)

4 stars. This little gem surprised me a whole bunch. Think a better executed Of Fire and Stars but with dragons! F/F romance, although it was very slow burn in a will-they-won't-they way, with lots of intrigue and ballgowns.

I'm glad you enjoyed this book. I thought it was good as well. But then again, I do love historical fiction :)

Jennifer | 456 comments I finished the last book of this challenge, plus book one of Round 2. I mean I still have a whole nother month left, so might as well do two right?!

The Evolution of Mara Dyer (Mara Dyer, #2) by Michelle Hodkin The Retribution of Mara Dyer (Mara Dyer, #3) by Michelle Hodkin - both are from the Mara Dyer trilogy that I read the first book, oh, 2 or so years ago.

Jennifer | 456 comments Finished book #2 for Round 2
Soulless by Gail Carriger - This has been on my TBR pile for quite some time. I just finally found this illustrated edition that I thought was perty. So I bought it and gave it a go, and was not disappointed. I LOVED this book. I cannot wait to get the rest of this series and read them all at once!

I'm glad you liked it! Now I Rise is one of the strongest book 2 in a trilogy that I've ever read. Definitely no 'second book syndrome' going on w/that one :) Hope you like the finale!

Jennifer | 456 comments Finished books 3 & 4 of Round 2
Descendant (Starling, #2) by Lesley Livingston Transcendent (Starling, #3) by Lesley Livingston - both have been on my physical bookshelf for a year or so.

That's probably all the farther I will get in this challenge because I have found some new books that I am loving and am working my way through Gail Carriger's Parasol Protectorate and Custard Protocol books right now :)
