The only *rule* for this challenge is that you have to pick a book from your TBR (to be read) file. We want to decrease the size of our back lists, hence the challenge!

October 2018 ~ Ela & Kooloo's pick ~ Dark Romance, Suspense or Thriller Theme

Yeah, baby!!! I am sooooooo in!

message 2: by Nay (new)

Nay (4ukcats) Yee haw! This one should be easy.

Me too! Will have to pick book later.

message 3: by Leslie (new)

Leslie | 2430 comments In! No clue what to pick though...🤔

Michele (guilliem) | 2131 comments I think I’m going to read Tears of Tess by Pepper Winters. It’s been on my list for a long time.

Great book, Michele!

message 9: by Jean (new)

Jean | 1658 comments Loved it Michele!

message 10: by Steph (new)

Steph | 109 comments I'm down for a dark read.

message 11: by Leslie (new)

Leslie | 2430 comments This is super hard for me. I am notoriously picky as it is with my preferred genre of straight up CR... suspense/dark/thriller is not my thang which makes me even more persnickety. *sighs* First world problems!!!

Anyway, I am *trying* Ruthless King Ruthless King (Mount Trilogy, #1) by Meghan March . The start is slow go. Fingers crossed I grow to like it.

message 12: by Nay (new)

Nay (4ukcats) Good luck, Leslie! I just realized it's October 1--I need to get my PFM shelf sorted and get my dark book picked.

message 13: by Michele (new)

Michele (guilliem) | 2131 comments Good luck Leslie - I read that one a little while back - it was a slow start for me too but I ended up liking it.

I'm just going to keep going with the Eagle Elite series... Totally cheating... I don't care 😉🤣😂🤣

You are cracking me up! Can we qualify it as dark romance? If so, I'm with you because that's what I'm still reading...obsessively!

Suspense...yeahhhh....

message 17: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Aiello (lisaaiello) | 2460 comments I am picking Born, Darkly (Darkly, Madly Duet, #1) by Trisha Wolfe

message 18: by Leslie (new)

Leslie | 2430 comments Finished Ruthless King Ruthless King (Mount Trilogy, #1) by Meghan March

The only reason I was able to get through it was that it had great narration and was only 5.5 hrs. The story was very slow with way too much sex that wasn't sexy. The only exciting thing that happened was the cliffy in last few sentences. 2**

I have loved some of Ms. March's books, but this one is not for me.

Another one off the TBR.

message 19: by Nay (new)

Nay (4ukcats) That sucks, Leslie! But at least it was short.

I'm going to read Kitty Thomas. I'm pretty sure I read Comfort Food by Kitty Thomas Comfort Food and never rated it. So I'm going to check it first, and if I've already read it, I'll go with Broken Dolls (Pleasure House, #2) by Kitty Thomas .

Grey, I'll let you know when I figure out for sure.

message 20: by Ela (new)

Ela | 4291 comments I'm in....

message 21: by Jean (new)

Jean | 1658 comments I'm a little behind guys. My Aunt Emma passed yesterday, 2 days short of her 95th birthday (Auntie Em).

I think I'll do Comfort Food for this one. I've had the book for years!

*hugs*, I'm so sorry your loss, Jean. ❤

message 23: by Nay (new)

Nay (4ukcats) So sorry, Jean. Bless her heart--she lived a long life.

I've also had Comfort Food for years. I have the pb around here somewhere, which is why I think I may have already read it. But I've read a bunch of her other books too, so I'm not sure.

message 24: by Michele (new)

Michele (guilliem) | 2131 comments Hugs to you Jean... so sorry for the loss to you and your family.

message 25: by Ela (new)

Ela | 4291 comments Hugs Jean!

Warning! If you love chicken soup you may want to stay clear of Comfort Soup....just a friendly warning. I could never get into this author's books, like any of them!

message 26: by Jean (new)

Jean | 1658 comments Love you guys!😘

message 27: by Leslie (new)

Leslie | 2430 comments *big squishy hugs for Jean*

message 28: by Tessa (new)

Tessa | 1761 comments *hugs Jean*

message 29: by Tessa (new)

Tessa | 1761 comments Finally picked a book. I think, based on the first series, it'll be dark. Savage Prince (Savage Trilogy, #1) by Meghan March

message 30: by Ela (new)

Ela | 4291 comments So I'm looking through Maryse's lists there are several under IN THE MOOD FOR SOMETHING DARK?:

Lisa Aiello (lisaaiello) | 2460 comments Can't wait to read your thoughts as you read this. It looks crazy!!

message 33: by Ela (new)

Ela | 4291 comments So far it's quite intriguing! You should join me because Comfort Food is just not for you....I just know it....I have this one review full of spoilers.

message 34: by Steph (new)

Steph | 109 comments i just finished Comfort Food by Kitty Thomas and now I'm reading The Wife Between Us by Greer Hendricks . Comfort food was a quick read and I give it 4 stars!

message 35: by Jean (new)

Jean | 1658 comments Stephanie! I need you to pick a book for me on the other challenge thread!

message 36: by Ela (new)

Ela | 4291 comments Lisa wrote: "Can't wait to read your thoughts as you read this. It looks crazy!!"

It didn't do it for me!

message 37: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Aiello (lisaaiello) | 2460 comments Well, well, well... Born, Darkly (Darkly, Madly Duet, #1) by Trisha Wolfe was definitely a dark read. 3.5 stars for me that I rounded up to 4. I think my only problem with the story was that it leaned heavily on the psychology aspect and was a bit too cerebral for me. But, I still very much enjoyed the dark deliciousness...and I'm totally enraptured with Grayson. It had quite a few little twist, turns and reveals. And did I mention Grayson??? I heart a serial killer!!

message 38: by Leslie (new)

Leslie | 2430 comments Oooh Lisa, I liked a serial killer too! Despite me typically not reading dark ones, this duet was a good mindf@ck.

Push (Push, #1) by Claire Wallis & Pull (Push, #2) by Claire Wallis

message 39: by Steph (new)

Steph | 109 comments Jean wrote: "Stephanie! I need you to pick a book for me on the other challenge thread!"

I didn't sign up for a challenge read this month!?!

message 40: by Steph (new)

Steph | 109 comments Jean wrote: "Stephanie! I need you to pick a book for me on the other challenge thread!"

I did sign up! I'm SO SORRY Jean!!! I see Grey chose something for you though.

SO SO SORRY!!!

message 41: by Jean (new)

Jean | 1658 comments Hahaha! It's okay Stephanie!

Just starting my pick from Grey today!

message 42: by Nay (new)

Nay (4ukcats) I ended up going with Sidetracked Sidetracked (Mindf*ck, #2) by S.T. Abby and gave it 5 stars!

It's a series of 5 novellas (around 120 pages each) that are dark romantic suspense. I've read the first 3 and love them so far. I just needed a break, but I'm going back to them next week.

message 43: by Jean (new)

Jean | 1658 comments Ended up reading Doll House for this challenge.....didn't expect it to be dark, but it was in the beginning and definite thriller! Loved it! 5 stars!
