Major Tarver Merendsen is aboard the luxury spaceliner, Icarus, being lauded for a much publicized rescue when he meets Lilac LaRoux. Unknown to him at the time she is the daughter of the richest man in the galaxy. When she pulls him in and then humiliatingly dumps him by revealing her identity, he categorizes her as a snob and avoids her. UNTIL, Icarus runs into a rift in hyperspace and begins to collapse and Tarver and Lilac end up alone on an escape pod and then crashed on an unknown planet. They must rely on each other to survive and find a way to make contact. But this is no world either has seen before and whispers they hear may be driving them mad. Finding the answers to the mystery of the planet and a way to escape is an exciting and well told story. One of the best YA science fiction stories I have read in quite a while. Looking forward to the next volume.
