Irena Iverson | 3 comments I read this book about 25-30 years ago and vaguely remember it. It was a period when I loved Jackie Collins type books and I loved this book the most. I can't remember the author or the title.

I grew up in Ukraine and the book was a translation and most likely the author was an American.

It has two story lines and two main characters: wealthy guy and poor super beautiful girl who are related but don't know about each other. I can't remember how they are related, either his brother or his father had sex with her mother only to disappear later. They meet when she is grown up (he is older than her) near the church? and feel instant connection. I think she literally walks silently to his car when she sees him. They fall in love without knowing they are related. But they meet much later in the book. The book explores the main characters lives. I vividly remember there was a lot about the girl growing up and the troubles and difficulties she faced. Somehow her life had tragedies because she was growing up poor and in a small town. I think her first boyfriend was Billie? and got killed or something for loving her but I am super vague about details. Also, the man loved expensive sport cars and at the very end he finds out that she is related to him because of some kind of will, documents. Some events lead to the main character reviewing paperwork at the law firm that handled family business and finds out about monthly payments to the mother of his love interest. And after that, I think he looses control of his car and dies because he is heartbroken and shocked. Sorry I am so vague on details. I read the book as a kid.

Rosa (rosaiglarsh) | 5380 comments It doesn't sound like Princess Daisy to me. What language did you read it in, Irena?

Irena Iverson | 3 comments I read it in Russian but it was a translation from a foreign language. Plus, yeah, I think they meet in Paris but it's 100% she is growing up not in France. I am pretty sure it was an American author.

Which romance novel authors were big in America in the 80s and 90s? I don't remember anyone except Jackie Collins.

Honestly, for romance genre the book was good. I never read romance novels anymore but I still remember that book. Also, it wasn't like pure romance novel, really. It wasn't like all about love in the book. More about life of the main characters.

In translated version into Russian there were actually two books: part one and part 2.

There's also Danielle Steel.

Irena Iverson | 3 comments Danielle Steel was so productive..lol.. I have looked through like 30 of her books and she wrote 200!

The book I read had a big part of the main character girl growing up. Explored her adolescence and first love she had that ended tragically. I am twisting my brain why, but it wasn't because her first love didn't love her. It was something about the people they were surrounded with in that small town. They had a problem with them or her boyfriend.
