The October perspective is Mental Health Awareness Month. Mental illness affects everyone directly or indirectly through family, friends or coworkers. Despite mental illnesses’ reach and prevalence, stigma and misunderstanding are also, unfortunately, widespread. In the US, the first week of October in recognized by NAMI as Mental Health Awareness. World Mental Health Day is observed on 10 October every year, with the overall objective of raising awareness of mental health issues around the world and mobilizing efforts in support of mental health.

Book Selections are:
Faces in the Water - Janet Frame
The Turn of the Screw - Henry James
Mrs. Dalloway - Virginia Woolf

Now it's up to you. Nominate your book by the end of the day, Tuesday, September 25.

But, alas, Norwegian Wood is not part of the 1001 books you must read.

Gail wrote: "Oh, so sorry. I should have looked it up rather than just assume." It's okay, I always think it is on the list, but After the Quake would work and it is on the list.

Kelly_Hunsaker_reads ... | 902 comments I will go with After the Quake, as my library actually has a copy of it.
