He nodded" then I will be outside just knock on the window if you need me"
Jeff went outside and began working on the small farm he was beginning to build.
Lucy relaxed for a while on the couch and sipped her water.
He checked the animals and made sure all was well with them and he unhooked the horses from the wagon.
She decided to get up and make dinner, going into the kitchen and slicing up some bread.
He smiled as he worked his mind going to a new baby.
She sliced the bread and got some leftover meat from the freezer outside.
He stacked some hay in the barn feeling joyful about his new family.
She cooked the ham on the stove and put it on two plates.
He rested looking toward the house wondering if Lucy was alright.
While the food cooked, lucy rested against the counter for support.
He sighed and decided he would finish a few things then head to the house and see how she was.
She swallowed some bile that rose up her throat and grimaced.
He finished up his work and headed into the house.
She spat up into a cup and coughed.
He walked into the house and could smell the food cooking.
She wiped her mouth and emptied the cup outside.
He sniffed loudly "Smells good" he said as he walked up to her.
She forced a smile to hide her sickness. "Thanks. It's just about done".
She cleared her throat and grimaced. "Could you maybe...finish cooking for me?" She asked hoarsely
"Uh sure" he said walking to the stove.
She suddenly dashed outside and puked on the lawn.
He watched her a little confused by her actions but stayed at the stove so the food would not burn.
She came back in with tears in her eyes and a pale face.
"Are you okay?" he asked noticing her pale face.
She sighed and put bread on her plate.
He looked at her feeling a little guilty.
"Yes" he replied and got a plate for it.
She sat down at the table and waited.
He brought over the food and some plates and sat them on the table.
She put small quantities of food onto her plate.
He watched her carefully and scooped food on his plate.
She nibbled on the food slowly and the buttered her bread.
He ate hungrily as he had been working all day.
She ate slowly and sipped more on her water. She looked sick and weak.
He looked at her watching her eat "You know you are eating for two now" he said.
She nodded and sighed. "I know. I just don't think I can keep it down."
He nodded "It will get better, I think."
She smiled and squeezed his hand. "Okay."
He ate the rest of his food grinning at her.
She ate a little bit more but decided she was done.
He leaned back in his chair and sighed.
