Lucy heard him call her and gave up on trying to open the trunk, her fingers sore from attempting to pry it open. "It's locked." Lucy said when she entered the room he was in.

"What is?" he asked looking at her intently a little more confident now he was armed.
"The trunk I found under the bed." She said.
"Oh" he said "Let's go see what these can do" he said as he headed for the small stairs.
He tipped up the chest and poured some gunpowder in the lock and lit it causing the lock to explode open.
Lucy screamed and turned her face away from any flying pieces.
Jeff stepped back so Lucy could open the chest.
Lucy knelt down in front of the chest and opened the heavy lid with a grunt. A puff of dust came out, causing Lucy to cough.
Jeff looked over her shoulder but couldn't see what was inside. "What is it?" he asked.
"Good" Jeff replied with a sigh of relief. "I just hope they fit"
Lucy pulled out a royal blue dress from the trunk. It wasn't particularly fancy but it was definitely a lot nicer than what clothes she did own. She looked over at Jeff and smiled.
"I will be downstairs" he said giving her her privacy.
Lucy nodded and began to unbutton the front bottoms on her nightgown.
He hesitated for only a moment then took the stairs down to wait for Lucy to dress.
Lucy peeled off her gown and stepped into the dress. She slipped her arms in the long sleeves and reached back to try and button up the dress. She couldn't do it. It was something her mother always did for her.
Jeff looked out the dingy windows of the cabin still needing a horse.
Lucy walked downstairs, holding the back of the dress closed. "Jeff?"
Jeff turned to her "Yes?" he asked his eyes worried.
"Can....could you maybe.. button me up?" Lucy stumbled over her words, her cheeks flushed.
Jeff looked at her then he blushed as he realized what she needed him to do.He stepped behind her and with shaking hands started to button her dress it took him several tries to get the first few done.
Lucy but her lip as he buttoned her up, moving her long hair out of the way.
His fingers brushed her bare skin and he shook even more , but finely to his relief he buttoned the last button and let his hands drop to his sides.
Lucy felt a spark of heat jolt down her back when he touched her skin. When he finished with the buttons, she let her hair drop and turned around with a sweet smile on her face. "Thank you."
"You are welcome' he mumbled still a little uncomfortable, even though he had seen more of her body than he could now see. He smiled "did you find any shoes?" he asked
Lucy patted her bare feet on the floor and sighed. "Not yet."
"Okay" I think we are safe here for the moment, we better get some rest while we can.
"Where is there to sleep?" She asked.
"The bed upstairs" I will find a spot down here.
"Are you sure? Because I don't really want to sleep..."
"You must be exhausted" he said "Neither of us has slept well we will need our energy to travel tonight"
"But what" he asked a little short with her his fatigue wearing on him.
"Never mind." She huffed, leaving the room.
He groaned upset at himself "Lucy I'm sorry" he called after her.
She stopped and looked over her shoulder at him.
"I'm sorry this whole thing is wearing on me, please forgive me. I think I need some rest".
Lucy sighed in understanding. "Then you take the bed upstairs."
He nodded in resignation and headed up stairs to get some rest.
Lucy then patted around the cabin, exploring.
As soon as he laid down he was fast asleep.
Lucy discovered a pair of boots under a rotting table. She slipped them on. They didn't fit perfectly but they weren't that bad.
Jeff woke slowly, then sat up in bed rubbing the sleep from his eyes.
Lucy trudged around the cottage to break in her boots.
Jeff stood the memories of the past few days flooding back into his mind. His heart beating faster with each returning memory , the finial one of him buttoning up Lucy's dress. He closed his eyes for a moment so he could hold onto that memory for a little longer, then he moved to take the stairs down to the main floor.
When Lucy saw Jeff descend the stairs, she flashed her new boots with a sly smile. "Look what I found!"
He grinned "That's great" he said and stretched a little. "How are you feeling?"
She shrugged and tapped the toes of her boots together. "I feel alright, I guess."
"Do you think we should stay here until night to travel?"
