She pointed across the street. "He did it."
Jeff followed her finger he smiled "handsome fellow " he teased her.
"Sush." She laughed and nudged his shoulder.
He winked at her "I wonder if.he would recognize your body?"
She gasped and playfully smacked him. "Jeff Hamilton!" She scolded, but humour was in her voice.
He laughed and shrugged "I dare you"
"Dare me to what?" She asked slowly
"Sashay down that boardwalk and back"
She grinned. "And what will this prove?"
"Not sure,Its just a little test."
"Okay, fine." She stood up straight and smoothed down her skirts.
With a grin, she strutted down the walk across the street from the young man.
Jeff watched the man barely able to take his eyes off Lucy.
Lucy grinned and looked over her shoulder at Jeff.
Jeff waited to see if the man noticed her.
The squinted his eyes a little, blinking at lucy.
The young man discarded his apple and began walking across the street toward lucy.
Jeff kept an eye on what was going on.
Lucy sucked in a breath and stepped back toward Jeff.
"Lucy?" the guy said, squinting his eyes at her.Lucy looked up at him from under her hood.
"Haven't seen you in so long! How are you?" He asked."I've been okay..."
Jeff placed his hand on Lucy's back.
He then looked at Jeff. "You're Jeff...right?"
"Everybody has been wondering where you two were..especially you, Lucy." He said, looking at her with concern."Um, I know." She said in a small voice.
"Good! We should go let your mother know." He said, nodding.Lucy bit her bottom lip. "I don't think that is necessary.."
Jeff nodded "That wont be necessary"
"Why not?" He frowned. "Oh, you think I want the award? Gosh no. I wouldn't do that to you, lucy," he smiled sadly at her.Lucy pushed her good back.
"It's not because of the reward. Besides, my mother isn't home." Lucy said softly.He blinked. "Oh, she must have left town. Probably looking for you."
Lucy sighed and grabbed Jeff's hand.He smiled. "Ah, finally met a suitor I see."
Jeff grinned "Maybe a little more than that"
He raised an eyebrow. "Oh?" He looked between the two of them.Lucy smiled. "Matthew, meet my fiancee."
Matthew smiled and shook his hand. "Pleasure to meet you." He smiled.
"Same here" Jeff said gripping the mans hand.
He squinted his eyes in confusion just as a group of his friends from across the street hollered and whistled to get Lucy's attention.Hastily, she looked over at them.
Jeff looked in the same direction.
The group of young men snickered and winked at Lucy.Matthew smiled apologetically. "Sorry about them...."
Lucy cleared her throat and moved closer to Jeff, hugging his arm. "I think it's time we left..."
