She took his hand and kissed his palm.

He smiled and slowed the horses to a slow walk.
"People are going to notice our return." She said
"Well, we do live in a small town."
"Shall we try for a town in the other direction?"
She shook her head. "No, it's fine."
"Okay" he said looking at her and grinning.
She looked back at him and kissed his grin.
He laughed and pulled her close to him.
She wrapped her arms around his waist and pillowed her head with his shoulder
He held the reins with one hand and her with the other.
"When did you learn how to ride a horse?" She asked
"When I was three" he replied "Really it was a mule"
"What is?" he asked a little perplexed.
"The image of three year old you riding a mule." She smirked
"Oh" he said thinking it was just a normal thing.
He smiled "And when did you learn?"
"When I was about eight. I would have started earlier but I was scared of horses." She laughed
"Scared?" he asked looking at her.
The idea was a little foreign to him but he nodded.
"I was scared of a lot of things." She added
She shrugged. "My father liked to tell me stories."
"Ohhh" he sighed only imaging what he could have told her.
"It will be all over soon" he said his voice hard.
"Promise?" She whispered, gripping his hand
She frowned. "You can't promise that, can you?"
She sighed. "Sorry...I'm just living in the clouds I guess."
"Its okay lets live it up while we can"
She laughed a little. "I can't get over what has happened. Especially between us."
"I mean it as a good thing. I honestly did think you liked me."
"Well, I did know at some points." She grinned
"When I asked you to button up my dress for the first time. And when you said you wanted to hear me scream."
"Now I know what you meant by that." She giggled
She nodded and blushed. "You know that was the best night of my life."
